It seems kind of shady to me. If you didn't have the coupons at the time of purchase, then IMO you don't get to use them. Plus, will CVS even "take back" the clearance shampoo for you to rebuy?
So, here is the deal. I took advantage of CVS's Pantene closeouts today and scored about 20 bottles (after going to the one 15 miles away- mine was out). I didn't have any of the 3.00/2 Pantene Q's, but grabbed them anyways as the deal is good even without coupons.
Theoretically speaking, if I were to buy 10 of the coupons and go back to CVS and return the 20 items and ring them back up, using coupons, how would this look? They weren't on sale, they are closeout priced, so it's not like the "sale" will go off and I'll be forced to rebuy at full price or anything like that. What do you think? I could really use that 30.00 back!

I wouldn't do it, but that's just me![]()
I don't know if they'll take back closeout items or not. I am donating it all to the local Children's Village. It's not like I'm just greedy and need to stock shampoo for the next 20 years or anything. It was a good deal, could have just been better. Thanks for your responses.
Maybe you could call CVS and speak with the manager and see what they say about it.

Doesn't that $3.00 off any 2 expire today (Dec 31, 2011) anyway?
Good luck, it's worth a try if you need the funds, but I don't know if they take clearance items back.

I am friendly with my (small) store and they will do it for me once in awhile when I forgot to give them a coupon or 2. I don't know what they would think about a bunch. You aren't returning to get all your money back. I would just explain to them that you'd like to do it so you have more funds to use for your charity purchases and tell them you'd love to have the difference on a CVS card. That way they'd get it in the end. Never hurts to ask. All they can do is say no. I don't think it's shady if you are up front and honest about it.

My cvs has also done a post coupon sale, but it was only for a coupon or two and it was the same day I forgot them... 10 coupons worth $30, LP would probably raise an eyebrow.
