    HOT Managers are even clueless

Today I went to CVS and bought two of the Crest toothpastes that have the $2.50 ecb when you buy two. Well two weeks ago the sale was get $2.50 ecb when you buy 1, limit 2. They were out that week so I got a raincheck, and the raincheck clearly says $2.50 ecb on 1, limit 2. Which means if you buy two toothpastes you get $5 in ecb.

After all of the receipt printed out, she looks at it and says the sale is the same this week so your extra bucks printed already. I looked at her with a wtf stare and said did you not read the raincheck? It clearly says $2.50 ecb on 1 not two. So yes I got $2.50 in ecb but I should get $2.50 more. Then she keeps going on and on about it being the same sale and that the receipt says I've reached the limit of 2 so she can't print anymore which isn't even making sense. I have no idea why she kept talking about the limit being two, that has no bearing whatsoever on my raincheck.

I asked for a manager and *shocker* she is the manager. She says, "I am the manager and I am the one who puts up the signs so I know what the sales are." I said clearly you don't and this weeks sale is irrelevant any way since we are talking about a friggen RAINCHECK! She just completely refused to print my extra bucks because "I already got them" no matter what I said and no matter how my times I told her the rain check right in front of her face says $2.50 ecb on ONE not TWO!

Anyway, she kicked me out of the store and I didn't get my ecb and she wouldn't give back my raincheck. What a joke. And of course customer service was already closed for the day.

If the sale was the same, then why did she keep the raincheck? Okay, that isn't the only thing wrong with this, but that is what I kept thinking.
PM me when you post on the DB, I'll respond faster.

Don't rainchecks have an event code written on them?

I hate to say it, but I think she's right in a way...the sale going on now is the same offer code as the one last week. If the offer code on your raincheck matches the one in this week's flyer, you can't do both at a limit of 2 (2 raincheck and 2 current week).

Unless I am misunderstanding something in your post, you can only do 2 over the life of that offer code (which I believe is the same last week as this week). That does, however mean that you should get your two $2.50 ecb's ($5.00 total) over the life of the offer code.

It almost sounds like you got angry and were arguing with the mgr which is never going to get you what you want---and honestly hurts all the couponers in the area. If they won't honor a raincheck or ecb's, I'd simply say thank you and let them know you'll just call customer service to get it resolved. That way you can check to make sure you're in the right before you call and then CS can get your ecb's added to your card if they should have been.

    Good luck!

It was a different sale. The rain check was from two weeks ago. At my store, two weeks ago the sale was $2.50 ecb when you buy 1 4.0 oz Crest limit 2 which is what my raincheck was for. Last week it was $2.50 ecb when you buy 1 5.8 oz Crest limit 2. This week it was back to the 4.0 oz Crest, but the ecb changed to $2.50 when you buy two which is why I used the raincheck.

By using the raincheck the scenario should have obviously played out like this: I get $2.50 in ecb on my receipt from the current sale and I get a manual $2.50 because of the raincheck. How many the limit is has no bearing on anything because if the computer printed the $2.50 on my receipt, which it did, I'm obviously not over any sort of limit. And I wasn't, it was a completely new and different sale. Different codes and everything.

And to the last person, I did get angry with her because she tried to belittle us in front of the rest of the customers by saying, "You got your money, I'm not giving you anymore free money" which is completely uncalled for. She refused to re-read the raincheck. All she was able to say was I know what I'm talking about and you don't, now get out of my store.

Customer service was finally back open today so I called and they added the ecb to my card because I was in fact right and then my brother filed a complaint on the lady who turns out to not even be a manager at that store. Must be a supervisor or something when a manager is not in. The lady on the phone said that everything the store employee did was completely wrong and against what they are supposed to do and that the district manager will be giving us a call back.

And all I wanted her to do was take 5 seconds to re-read the raincheck and then however long after that to comprehend it, but no, she had to be right.

Edit: To bluechicken: Exactly, if the sale was the same, why would I be using the raincheck? I'd obviously save that for when there was no sale.
