QUESTION Those who have a large amount of Extra Care Bucks that they roll...

Do you even bother with multiple transactions or do you just do everything in one big transaction?

I usually do one big transaction. I had about $24 in ECBs on Sunday. I did one big transaction. My subtotal was .47 and I got back about $27 in ECBs. It does depend on the sale for that week.

My stores will accept expired ECB for up to a week. When they enter those manually, it seems to not need a manager override if the number of entries is no more than two. For that reason, I split up my transactions when practical to make it easier/quicker for the cashier.

I only split transactions if I want smaller ECB denominations for quantity deals. For example, if Colgate earned $2 ECB and the weekly limit was two, and if practical, I would split the Colgate units thus earning $2 and $2, rather than $4. Just depends.

i'm down to about 30 to 35 bucks, so i still do several transactions.

i just do the math and see what works best each week.

when i had $80 or more, then , no, i just got as close to zero as a could and threw in a filler.

Wow! $80 at once!!! That's awesome. I've never had more than a few dollars at at time. I haven't come across a big moneymaker to "buy in" with though.

I am down to $1 ECB that I earned today. The deals have not been that good lately. And if a good deal does come along, unless I am there when the store opens on Sunday morning , the store is out but expecting a truck on Tuesday. I have actually went back on Tuesday evening only to be told ,"None came in on the truck>" I still have rainchecks from over a year ago on some items that they never seem to have in.

I usually keep around 40 ECB per card. I like doing 1 large transaction as it cuts down on time.

I do one big transaction as well. I split it sometimes (when I remember) when buying multiples to get smaller amounts of ECBs. My store takes expired ECBs indefinitely, so I like to have various amounts to hand over just enough to cover my total. I usually have to have them adjust the last one down a few cents. I never buy a filler to use up the rest, but if the total is $18.37, I will either give $18 ECBs and 37 cents, or $19 ECBs and add a small CVS tissue (50 cents) to bring the total to $18.87, so I only lose the 13 cents. Then I will get back at least $18 to $20 in ECBs, so I really didn't 'lose' anything in the transaction IMHO. If my total is $18.87 to begin with, I will NOT buy something else just to 'spend' the 13 cents in ECBs.

I try to do one transaction and usually can 90% of the time.
