QUESTION CVS - new IP rule in place?

My apologies if this question has been posted before; I did try to search the forums but it didn't come up in the search results.

Did CVS institute a limit on the number of IPs that can be used in a single transaction? I went to CVS a week or so ago and tried to use three or four (sorry, can't remember how many it was exactly) IPs in one transaction. The register threw up an error message that said something like "limit exceeded". It took the cashier and I a minute to figure it out but we finally realized that it was the multiple IPs throwing it off. I ended up having to do two transactions and was able to use all of my IPs but it made me wonder if CVS instituted a new per-transaction coupon limit for IPs.

Anyone have any insight on this? TIA!

Unfortunately, these rules seem to be up to each individual store's manager. I have one store that'll take anything I throw at them, but another one just two blocks away won't take more than one IP per same item. Doesn't matter to them that they all have different security codes, it's one per same item and that's it.

I've heard from others on here that their store won't accept IP's at all and others only if they scan. It's a hit or miss.

I don't think your situation had to do with using more than a certain number of IP's per transaction, but who knows. I have not had that problem at CVS in the last few weeks.

My CVS will take multiples of anything. As far as I can recall, I did use (3) of the ThermaCare IPs in one transaction when they were on EB. I know I used 4 or 5 Dawn AND 4 or 5 Ritz (regular insert coupons) in the same transaction last Saturday. My store is a Long conversion that opened late last spring and is in direct competition with a brand new WAGs across the street.

Perhaps the store managers that don't allow it are having problems with shelf clearers. Last week when the Dawn was on sale, the shelves at my store were full on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday morning. Then some time on Wednesday, every bottle on the shelf was wiped out. FINALLY on Saturday night (the last day of the sale), they were restocked.

I would imagine that if a store manager has too many people complaining about lack of stock, they might start implementing such limits.

My store will only allow one ip per transaction, according to some cashiers, others will let me use more. I would ask the manager or AM to give you the lowdown!

Unless CVS policy has changed, they are to take IP's as long as they scan without any prompting. That's when the manager can start saying no. That is the policy that has been in place for quite some time. I don't think it has changed. I just think you got a misinformed store/cashier/manager.

I've never had a problem using IP's at my CVS. They're really coupon-friendly, though, so I dunno.

Actually, I think they may be in the processs of "tweaking" the way this stuff gets processed by the register--I went in today, and had 1 coupon for each of the 5 items I was buying, all regular insert coupons. It gave the message of "limit exceeded" on me, too, but the cashier overrode it. When I got out to the car and looked at my receipt, I figured out why. I had given her 2 ECB's before the coupons (one of them was a $6 Soyjoy I got a couple weeks ago), and it came up as "manufacturer coupon" rather than CVS coupon. Of course, if I had 6 MQ's and only 5 items, I can see why it would have balked, but it "interpreted" the ECB incorrectly.
