Re: CVS Out of Stock Compaint!
I confess to having two cards (one is mine, the other is my husband's, but that's a technicality I guess, since I'm the one that does the shopping either way). As a rule I only go to CVS on Sundays (few exceptions). One card is used at one store, the other card at a different store. Some weeks I only go to the first store and skip going to the second (in which case of course I'd only use the one card). But never both cards at the same store, and two cards/two stores is plenty. I'd lose my mind (and waste gas to boot) with any more than that. I can barely keep up with which end's up as it is.
I don't clear shelves, not unless there's barely any left to start with, or there's only enough left for a deal limit. For instance, if something is 3/$x, limit two deals, and I have qs that will cover six of those items (legit), then, yeah, I'll probably get the two deals even if only six whazits are left on the shelf. If someone else beats me to it, that's life, and good for them.

Re: CVS Out of Stock Compaint!
I had an interesting situation arise yesterday. I work for CVS also and it certainly isn't pleasant to deal with out of stock issues and have customers angry at you and the rest of the staff for it. I do completely agree that CVS needs to reevaluate their ordering system though.
Earlier in the week though I had a customer come in and we were out of stock on the I-motions so I wrote her a raincheck. Lastnight I went into my store to shop and ended up in line behind the same customer. She didn't realize I was behind her and was asking the clerk for the very same RC. I was struggling with keeping quiet about this and decided to let it go...that is until the clerk looked around the customer and asked me if I remembered if there was a limit on the deal. So I said, "Yes, limit one and I already wrote her a raincheck for this deal earlier in the week." She said this one was for a family member, but there wasn't a family member with her. To me this is just not kosher.
But this type of thing happens all the time. Earlier when CVS had cases of water on sale with a limit of 3 per household I had a man come in spouting off because we didn't have enough water to fulfill his rainchecks. He pulled three rainchecks out of his pocket for three cases each...all written by different people.
The way CVS orders is for the birds in my opinion but it makes it even harder when you have to deal with shelf clearers that have no remorse about it. And no, the system wouldn't have any way to know a customer already redeemed a RC and got an ExtraBuck deal...most of the time when you key in the offer number the register doesn't even recognize it so it's of no help.

Re: CVS Out of Stock Compaint!
since i am still working for cvs,, ,, that is full of crap , we have to give rain checks out when we r out of stock ,, please do not listen to that manager ,,, he is wrong , and he is probably taking the easy way out ,, if you want to know the answer to that just call the 1800 on the back of your card,,, do not believe everything you hear, and yes u can use the coupons on clearance items,, i used them for a customer ,, good luck ,
