News cvs---Yahoo article about CVS Extra Bucks Rewards program

CVS/pharmacy Delivers More Rewards, Value and Savings to Customers

ExtraCare cardholders came out in droves in 2009 with seniors leading the charge as the fastest growing demographic of rewards program users with more than 7.3 million to date and growing. Overall, the numbers show that ExtraCare is gaining in popularity as value becomes a key decision maker for where consumers shop, and the program itself saw an increase of 10 million active card users from December 2008 to December 2009. Both the number of men and women who signed up for a card increased substantially, growing by 8.7% and 7.9% respectively since last year.

Too bad the deals haven't been as good as they were a year or two ago. Still good, but not as good!

Thanks for the article... I wonder how many people fully understand the rolling ECB. When I go into my CVS, I don't see anyone else stocking up on the Pepsi or other things that are on sale this week. The display of Soyjoys is always full. I wouldn't have known how to use ECB if I didn't learn about it from the coupon sites like this. 3 years ago I would of thought $4 off $20 was nothing and $3 ECB was no big deal if it expired!

I have been a WAGs shopper for several years and am recently new to CVS due to a Longs conversion in Northern CA. I know from reading message boards like this that the deals are not quite what they used to be, but I have to say that CVS still has WAGs beat hands down. The ONLY negative is that all the EBs are tied to a card. From my experience, CVS is far more coupon friendly, better stocked, allows rain checks on EB items so you can ALWAYS get the deal, offers $X/X.XX that can be used BEFORE MCs, has a longer expiration on their EBs as opposed to the RRs, allows you to use as many coupons as you want (don't have to have fillers to use your EBs), etc.

WAGs had CVS beat hands down when they had the Easy Saver Rebates because you could use your RRs to buy rebate items and use your rebate gift card to buy RR items which ALWAYS meant $0 in OOP, but those days are long gone.
