QUESTION cvs---Clearance Kisses idea???

Please let me know if this is a crazy idea...

I bought a ton of the Christmas kisses (red, silver, green) at 75% off at CVS and thought of doing this. So that makes them $.87 each.

Pulling out the red and silver to add to my daughter and sons classes treat bags for Valentines day and then doing the same with the green and silver for St. Patricks day treat bags.

Is this being crazy/cheap or creative? :shrug7:I figure the candy should be okay until March as long as I keep it cool right?

Any feed back would be great because I don't want to feel like a dope.

TIA for all advice from the best web friends a girl could ask for .

I say that is a great idea! Most candy I've bought has a pretty long expiration date on it - like a year from now. I think you'll be fine!

My dd and I did the same with m&m's. We separated red and green to use on Valentine and St. Patrick's day cookies!

I always told people to do that when I worked for CVS!

FYI How to read hershey's expiration date codes-
near 'Bottom of the bag" will be usually a 5 digit/letter code with a 2 digit/letter code under it. The 2 digit is for expiration year and month. I have a bag of mint truffles and it is 0H, they expire 2010 August. The letter is the month so A=Jan, B=Feb and so on. 2 years ago some of the Christmas Kisses I got were good until January of the next year!

Pretty cool and thrifty idea!

You could probably freeze the chocolate. There are lots of online links that tell you how to prevent "bloom"- though I bet kids won't care much and it doesn't affect the taste.

I really like the Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day ideas!

If you want to use the kisses sooner... Last year, I bought xmas mugs that were on clearance and filled them with kisses and gave those out to my friends. My friends really liked them, plus they needed help eating all the chocolate :)

I did this too. Also froze a 46 oz bag - hope it'll be OK for baking next year. I gave a second 46 oz bag to DD's 2nd grade teacher - figured she could think of some math activity to use them with.

I did the exact same thing last year, and it was awesome. All the kids got red/silver kisses at V-day on their cheapo cards, and I had some for my MOPS group for St. Patty's day in green, plus some gold ones leftover from another bag that we used intermittently for Easter and other stuff - and I paid pretty much nothing for all of it. Do it, girl, no one will ever know!
