My CVS was out of the ThermaCard 1 ct that are free after ECBs however they had several generic (CVS brand) of 1 ct. (says trial size on the front). I asked the manager if it was possible to substitute the CVS brand. She immediately said "Yes. Yes, I'll do that for you." They were $1.69 each x 5 (the limit on ThermaCare) and she issued me a $9 ECB.

I don't know this manager so it wasn't a favor for me but in the questions I had asked her in the store prior to checking out, she definitely knew her store, her ECB deals and coupon policy. I was impressed.

So anyway, it never hurts to ask.

I get substitutions every time they are out at my store but this time when i asked the cashier just put her finger up her nose and said "uhhh. I dunno..."

ok not the nose picking but still! So frustrating. Next time i go there if my fav cashier isnt there ill walk out. Those twits.
