I think one big point is that we would be using OLD Expired products on our Bodies. YUCK

I think I would start by calling corporate and nicely explain what happened and when you checked your receipt they show up as charging you $1 on each of those. I would focus the conversation on the fact you were accidentally charged $3 too much, and don't worry about them having expired qs out because that is not what is important to you right now...you need that $3 back. CS is very nice usually and just be nice to them and they probably will just issue a $3 ECB to print next time you go.
I am sorry this happened...but each "error" in couponing will help you learn for the next time. Now you know as soon as you step away from the counter check your receipt to be sure it rang up correctly.
I see both points - but if it's in the store and attached to the product they should honor it. To me it's a reputation thing.
They aren't too good at pulling expired products from their shelf anyway (imo). Bought lots of meds, diabetic monitors and make up - all way out of date and returned them.
The stores I shopped at - put it right back on the shelf too. I called corp about it.
I have gotten several of the bags from cvs over the years. I think the 4.99 was a good price, but I would have expected the store to absorb the expired coupon.
I would definitely call corp about the store having expired coupons on the products.
Some retailers do honor expired peelie coupons on their products.
Both winn dixie and publix will honor a coupon that was attached to a product --no matter how expired. They say it affects their rep to have an expired coupon - makes the product look like it's old too.

Hi I was using the coupons to buy the essence beauty product- I wasn't even trying to use them on the bags. They are gifts to the teen girls in the Nashua Childrens home. I didn't even think of the expired body items in the bag until someone just mentioned it. Its a shame because I have all ready delivered these gifts. I email cvs corp. and still haven't got a reply. Only a general - customer service will be getting this email and will get back to you. So much for customer service. I was making my orginal posting , so that others were aware.![]()
yeah, I understand this thread was a heads up and thanks for posting about.
I will probably be one hunting a last minute gift to use up some ecb's next week. LOL
Donating a bag that could have expired stuff in it:
Now that would make me mad if I had already donated it.
That affected your reputation if you gave expired products as gifts.
Definitely call corp and ask them what the shelf life of their eob products. Explain the coupon was expired and now you are worried you passed off expired products.
Most beauty products do have a 3 to 5 yr shelf life, but no telling when those products were made.
To me since the coupon was on a product in the store - it's still a peelie like situation to me - and they should have honored it.
It's just basic customer service from my point of view.
Yeah, I hate they would have to absorb the expired coupon and eat $1 out of their profit,
but
being it's a cvs brand and they had expired coupons on products.....oh well for them - they should do the right thing.
I know it's only a $1, but next time it could be $10.

Is this the same bag with the neck thingy that got recalled last year.
I don't know anything about stuff recalled last year-as I didn't really shop cvs last year. These bags were black or white (really more of an off white) and it did have a velvet neck thing and cosmetic case and a sample of a hand lotion and spray (of a cvs brand essences( i think its called):hectic1: Now I don't know what I should do. I emailed corp. and they sent me a general reply, that they will get back to me and still has not. I am getting worried now that these product may be expires and might have been recalled.:hectic1: This is not good. These have been donated to the Nashua Childrens Home- this is haom ewhere kids go that don't have family etc. These kids have nothing. I thought I was doing a nice thing by getting all the girls a beauty set. I bought lots of these bags and but beauty supplies, make up, soaps lotions, shampoos etc. This really stinks.
CVS corp. is really get me very mad by not responding. What kind of way to do business.
If it's body wash and lotion, it should be fine even if it's a year old. My goodness, I've got some body spray and lotion from Bath and Body Works that's about 7 years old that's still good. I'd be concerned if it were food or tootpaste, but not lotion or shampoo!
I'd contact corp and complain....To my understanding of this conversation, the manager knowingly knew the coupons were expire..i.e. the reason why the bags were on clearance and to just rip up the coupons in front of you and brush you off as if it didnt matters, says alot about the manager knowing the coupons were expired....Call corp and go back and get your $3....I dont care if we do get great bargains at CVS or any other store...Unlike the stores no one reimburses us for when a store overcharges us....It may be just $3 today but tomorrow might be $10...HTH!
