Re: cvs---Telling all your friends... Most of my family (and when I say that I mean DH's family because they are the closest) think it is smart to save money this way. They all coupon a little, except for 1 of my SILs. She coupons a lot, but she lives in CA and they do not double where she lives, etc...
My take on it - why spend the money on full price items when I can get a lot more for less? I was raised in a country where credit cards did not exist, there was only 1 bank, and nobody dreamed about "an American dream" with everything that's included in it. I am not used to debt, I am not used to having what you want now and paying for it on a credit card in the next 100 years. While certain things like house, cars need to be bought with a loan, or, emergency spending and big ticket items (laundry machines, freezers, refrigerators, etc) can be put by us on a credit card (with no interest and every possible coupon we can find), we try to pay it off before the interest offer runs out. We are not interested in "you can have it for only $20 per month, and forgot to add, you will pay for it 200 years at that rate." And my DH was born and raised in the USA, but his take on this is the same as mine after the way he struggled in his life.
Couponing allows us to live good and use most brand items and use the money we would otherwise spend on the same items for something else - saving, travel, you name it.
If people are too lazy or do not believe that this is possible, it is their problem. There is saying in my country - fewer people, more oxygen. Means - fewer people do the deals, more for you to have. I tell my friends what I do and if they ask more questions, I tell them the secrets. If they do not seem to be interested, I leave it alone. To each is own... |
