You don't need a prescription to buy the meter.

I'm not certain but I think you need a prescription to buy the refills (test strips, lancets, etc).

I don't know of a reason anyone besides diabetics or hypoglycemics would need to use one.

A friend of mine's mom is at risk for diabetes, so her doctor told her to watch her sugar intake. I give her all of the meters that I get so she doesn't have to pay for refill strips. Even though she hasn't been diagnosed and doesn't have a prescription it comes in handy ;D

In Florida these monitors are not taxable so it really makes it a nice MM when they have them on sale with ecb's or RR but I understand certain states do tax it at their state tax rate which then may not be worth it by the time you buy coupons/trade coupons and then pay tax on it...kwim.
Sadly these coupons are never in my inserts..gotta buy or trade for em.

Last year was awesome because they were typically on sale $14.99 and we got back $14.99 in ECB'S...ahhhh those were the days. Oh and Limits of like 5.

Also good for donations and a tax write off. I donate to the Water Front Rescue Mission Men's and Women's Shelter. Whatever they don't use they pass on to other organizationa that can.

Actually when it comes to Medical supplies like Diabetes supplies it is against the law to get a rebate when using a coupon on the item to get the item free or when you get the item free period. I have heard of some people submitting rebates and getting the rebates because it got by someone that wasn't doing their job right. And then others submit and it didn't go through. Those that slipped by are actually committing fraud.

I could go for a $15 MM. Anyone ever do these before? If you send your receipt in that shows you used the coupon, do they still give a rebate?

    Thanks!
I smell a coupon! Did someone cut one?

Just an FYI-I have had 2 cats that were diabetic. At the same time. I did not need a prescription for the meters or the testing strips. But I did need one for the insulin. And yes, the kitties take "people" insulin. It is much cheaper to get it at the pharmacy than thru a vet. One of the kitties has since passed, and the other one is no longer a diabetic. But I still check his sugar levels once a month or so. The vet recommended it. So I do have a use for the meters. For my "baby"!

Oh my goodness!!! I don't submit the rebates because I just assume they won't reimburse.. but Fraud...wow! I didn't know this. I've been couponing a while now and didn't know this...so you know newbies have probably done this and not even known better.

I try reading everything but sometimes there is too much to have to keep up with.

aside from what PP said, another way to track it is via SN written on the coupon. if ya'll read the fine print, the SN of the meters should be written on the coupon for proper reimbursement. failure to do so by the store that sells the meter may mean non payment by Bayer since they did not fulfill requirements.

therefore, with the SN on the coupon and submission for rebates which takes 6 to 8 weeks for them to review and send checks. they would already know those meters where coupons were used take note of them in their system. In the MIR forms, we have to write the model and SN of the meter were claiming rebate for. When they match with the list where coupons were used, DENIED.

for those thinking, they'd rather not tell cashier to write the SNs, think again, if they have lots of these coupons that come back to them UNPAID, they may no longer accept coupons to get the meters free. ALL of us will lose when that happens.
