I have a strange conundrum with my green bag tag.
The CVS I go to is in the city and only has self-check out. So how do I use my re-usable bag? Do I place it on the scale before I start the transaction? I only ask because the machines work by weighing each item that is scanned. You have to place the item on the scale and leave it where there are CVS plastic bags..
I've just been scanning items, putting them slightly in front of the CVS plastic bags, and then putting them in my purse/re-usable bag after the transaction is done.

Anyone have any ideas for self-check out?

I'm surprised they don't have a "reusable bag" option. Harris Teeter has SCOs with a "my bag" option - hit the green My Bag button, place the empty bag on the scale (usually I have to move the racks of plastic bags out of the way) and then Continue to accept the bag weight. Maybe CVS can program their registers to do this.

I don't have a self-checkout but I would just try scanning the bar code on the bag tag and see what happens. I would scan it after you scan at least one item that you are buying because the regular registers aren't happy unless the cashier scans at least one item before the bag tag.

My guess is that when you scan the bag tag 1 of 2 things will happen. Either it will just register it and you can go on and since it's not expecting you to put anything on the scale, you'll be fine. Or you will get some error message at which point an employee can come over and help you.

OK -- never mind. I just realized that you were asking about the bag and not the bag tag. Sorry.
