Re: CVS: How do you get special order for upcoming sale? It helps if you get to know your store personel and manager first. But honestly, if you're just going to ask for them to order a specific quantity for yourself (for 1 card, or maybe for you and a friend or something), I don't think you should be too nervous about asking. Is your store generally pleasant to you when you check out and get a great deal? Then chances are that they would be happy to help you out and make an additional sale. You don't even necessarily *have* to tell them that it's for an upcoming sale, you could just say 'Hey, I'd really like to purchase 6 of these b/c I have great coupons, could you possibly special order them for me?' If you think they'll react okay to knowing that you know the sales ahead of time, then sure go ahead and tell them you saw the ad online somewhere (you don't necessarily have to say where, just that there are sites that show the ad early). Maybe even give them a heads-up that it's probably going to be a great seller and that they might want to order, say 6 for you and at least 12 for other shoppers who will surely come looking for the same deal. *Maybe* you'll get lucky and they'll then *offer* to give you the ad early from time to time. That's what happened when my friend and I started asking one of our stores to order things for sales - they said they'd appreciate a heads-up when we knew something was going to be a hot seller so the could *try* to order appropriately.
But you kind of have to assess your own personal store and what you think is appropriate. If you only ask them to order exactly the amount that you need, make sure you ask that they hold them for you so that another couponer doesn't snatch them out from under you. LOL
Also, don't forget that you can get rainchecks for the sale and then ask the store to order in so that you can use your raincheck.
