QUESTION CVS: How do you get special order for upcoming sale?

How do you go about asking for them to stock an item that you know is going to be on sale...that your not suppose to know about?? Like the Glade Lasting Impressions 8/23 - 8/29 sale...since the limit is 3 per household & you need 2 per $10... they will need 6 per person who wants to do that deal alone. Let alone if you have more than 1 card you want to do it on. Based on past sales they do not order enough for the limits they put on the sale item.

What are we to do? I know they either are getting ready to place their orders or have already done so. What should I do? I know we can ask for rainchecks if product isn't in but I'd at least like the chance of getting some the week of the sale. I have lots of couponers in my area that usually beat me to the stores & the shelfs are clear a lot...because they do not order enough stuff for more than 1 or 2 people to get the deal.

What to do, what to do??:shrug7:

    Thanks,
    Michelle

It helps if you get to know your store personel and manager first. But honestly, if you're just going to ask for them to order a specific quantity for yourself (for 1 card, or maybe for you and a friend or something), I don't think you should be too nervous about asking. Is your store generally pleasant to you when you check out and get a great deal? Then chances are that they would be happy to help you out and make an additional sale. You don't even necessarily *have* to tell them that it's for an upcoming sale, you could just say 'Hey, I'd really like to purchase 6 of these b/c I have great coupons, could you possibly special order them for me?' If you think they'll react okay to knowing that you know the sales ahead of time, then sure go ahead and tell them you saw the ad online somewhere (you don't necessarily have to say where, just that there are sites that show the ad early). Maybe even give them a heads-up that it's probably going to be a great seller and that they might want to order, say 6 for you and at least 12 for other shoppers who will surely come looking for the same deal. *Maybe* you'll get lucky and they'll then *offer* to give you the ad early from time to time. That's what happened when my friend and I started asking one of our stores to order things for sales - they said they'd appreciate a heads-up when we knew something was going to be a hot seller so the could *try* to order appropriately.

But you kind of have to assess your own personal store and what you think is appropriate. If you only ask them to order exactly the amount that you need, make sure you ask that they hold them for you so that another couponer doesn't snatch them out from under you. LOL

Also, don't forget that you can get rainchecks for the sale and then ask the store to order in so that you can use your raincheck.

I get different vibes from different cashiers at CVS... some are really snooty. I'm sorry to say the older cashiers are the snooty ones. The younger ones don't seem to care one way or the other. Maybe I'll ask tonight if one of the younger cashiers are in...or do I need to talk to a manager?

If you're going to ask about ordering, you either need to talk to the manager him/herself or find out who is going to do the ordering. (might be a shift supervisor that does the ordering) Get friendly w/ the manager or the person that usually does the ordering, and you're good.

i have gotten to know my stores manager and all other staff... they weren't ALL super nice at first..but i kept being nice..and i sent in to home office via email and phone surveys that i like this store and her staff...they get copies of the emails... make sure you tell them your name over and over... and pretty soon they will be calling you by name... my manager said she would try to order extras of stuff..but it don't always work... she orders and orders but it seems they just send what they want to send... never enough stock for ads like this one... .. if you do get in good with some of them.. they do have the ads 2 to 3 weeks in advance... sometimes longer... .. good luck... my problem with the r/c is my coupons expire ...but the r/c never does... just hope they do get the items back in.. i got some r/c that the items were never replaced...

Just another bit of advice. When you pre-order, no matter what, pick up and purchase the items you ordered. No matter if you found the items somewhere else! They don't need to get "stuck" with items that may not sell later and mess with their inventory. I have heard horror stories from my CVS managers.

One story today was a woman with $10 in expired ECB's--ours is the only CVS in the area that will take recently expired ECB'S and it seems after manually inputting everything, it left a 91 cent credit. The woman wouldn't even grab a filler candybar to finish and checkout. She made the checker void the whole order so she could rework the deal !!! Believe me, that makes things tougher for the next couponer! Lets keep the managers couponer friendly!
