That is the question of the day....and every cashier is going to do it different which makes it really hard to plan ahead of time. I have some for the scissors and the glue also.
I looked in the FAQ, and no luck... so I'm asking here =)
I'm brand new to CVS, most of my drugstore experience is at Walgreens. However, I went to CVS to get the school supplies that would've been FAECB. They were out of stock of most items and they gave me a raincheck for them.
When they finally get them in stock and I present cashier with product and raincheck, will...
a. I pay the sale price up front with ECBs printing at end of transaction (and register able to track if I'd bought my limit)?
or
b. The cashier deducts price of item (applying ECB savings to items during checkout) resulting in only having to pay tax?
Thanks for the help!

Wishlist - updated 5/10 & NBPN rebates for NC!
It is my experiance that I pay the price and then at the end of the transaction the cashier will force a ECB for the price of the items. side note: when the cashier has to force an ECB...they give you the amount of the item rounded up to the nearest dollar...so your school supplies that you will pay .99 per item for...you will get an ECB for $1.00!! not shabby!!

With the new policy in place since the fall of last year, the cashiers are to ring up the sale price listed on the raincheck then at the end of the sale they will scan your receipt and enter the promotion code and the ECB will print rounding up to the next dollar like previously mentioned.
The old way was to subtract the ECB from the sale price right away and if the item was FAECB then no tax is owed. This was all fine and dandy unless you wanted to use a coupon on an item that was already going to be free. Plus, the new way is more tempting for the customer to return to CVS. I haven't heard too many if anyone having insisting on using the old method lately. In the beginning of the new method if one wanted to use the old method, I'd politely ask them to do it the new way. They hesitated because they were not familiar with it, but it all worked out and gave them the experience with a patient customer.
I have some really old rainchecks where no price is written. It just says, "free after ECB".
And I always staple the ad to the raincheck. Reminds me of what the item looks like too.
Need any coups for Friskies cat food. Canned or the $3.50 IP. Meow baby!
Lucky me, I got a raincheck for 5 of the photo albums. She really didn't want to write it for 5, said the limit was one as per the ad. But they have that cardboard standing thing on the phot shelf that says limit 5. We had a discussion about it, she finally wrote it for 5.
But now do I have to redeem all 5 books at once? Or can I do one, get the $7.99, then do another, use that ECB for $7.99. And each time they cross of "limit 5" and write "limit 4", then "limit 3" as I redeem them?
I really don't want a huge $56 ECB. They used to have a line on the raincheck for this.
Any thoughts? thanks.
Susan

My store always wants to redeem them all at once. The only time they've ever split it up was when I had a rc for 5 Right Guard, and they never had 5 in stock at once. Maybe when you redeem the rain check, you could ask them to print each $7.99 ecb separately. At one store, the cashier actually told me that that's how they are supposed to do it.
At my store, it's all at once only . They won't piece it out for me.
Same here. My store only allows me to break it up if they don't have all the items at once. I remedy this by getting more than one raincheck. Sure it's a pain to go at different times to get different rainchecks but I agree that I dont' want a huge ECB.
My store will let me do bit by bit. I am very lucky to have such flexible and coupon friendly stores.
