Thumbs Down My CVS doesn't follow there own rules

I went to cvs to transfer a script last month. At that time I was told they will accept competitor coupons but they have to follow the rules on the competitor coupon you give them. I transfered one yesterday and one today using the same rite aid coupon. It said I could only use the coupon 2 x per person. This coupon had a expiration date of 2/28 and after I used them they said "you won't be able to use these again for 6 months". I asked why and they told me that it used to be on the rite aid coupon but it's not now and they follow what used to be on the coupon? Hmmmm?

What does it state on the RA coupons that you used? Mine don't state a time period, they just state they they can't be on any script previouly filled at ANY rite aid location. So, if they were following the rules on the coupon, you would not be able to use the coupon for those to prescriptions, ever...but, if you had a different script that you transferred, you should be able to use them. Did they write your name down somewhere? How would they know that a coupon had been used on that script or within the last 6 months?

Yes the coupon said I could not use on a script previously filled at RA and could only use the coupon twice. The way is see it is a script is not a "Drug" so if I have a "script" with 6 refills I can only use the coupon once in the 6 refill period. After that it will be a new "Script". I really think they were just Profiling because my husband is a heart patient and I am a stem cell transplant patient so we fill several scripts and I have been playing the transfer game for a while now. Good thing K mart and Walgreen's have script transfer coupons that will carry me through the next two months.

I would just say, "Ok, well, thanks. I'll take it somewhere else then. I know lots of other places that will be glad to have all the business I bring you!"

My CVS gave me a really hard time about using the transfer coupons so I finally called CS and complained so the district manager called me back and says "We want you to have all your prescriptions in one place so we can help you avoid any drug interactions." I said I have been transferring my prescriptions as I need them and using the transfer q's when I do so I don't see the problem. I told him to look at his records and he would see I had not transferred any scripts OUT only IN. He said "Well we don't want customers ""Bouncing"" their prescriptions around because that is not safe." I told him I would be glad to take my 10 prescriptions a month (between me and my DS) somewhere else if it was such an issue. He finally said he would talk to the pharmacy manager but he was not as helpful as I had hoped for and they still make snide comments about my "giftcards" when I go to the pharmacy. I did transfer my DS scripts to Ingles pharmacy because my sister works there and I prefer them to get the almost $2000 a month the insurance company has to shell out for his meds since my sister is obviously so much more helpful!

It is really none of their business where you fill your scripts or if you "bounce them around." They are making a mint off the insurance companies anyway, gc or not. I would let them know that I am an adult and can make the pharmacist aware of what drugs I and my family are taking. They are feeding you that line to try and make you feel guilty about getting the giftcards. If they don't want to honor the coupons, then DON'T put them out and don't put signs out offering to honor others coupons. Can you tell I am sick of stores, all stores talking out both sides of their mouths and making up the rules as they go? Program customer service numbers in your phone and don't be afraid to call right then and there. Good luck!
