not a bad day at cvs & i have 1.99 more ecb then i did before! :) | The register screen said $10.53, which includes the tax. Your total, if you add the pre-tax cost of the items, was only $9.89 after your $2/$10 CVS coupon. The cashier adjusted your $10 ECB to $9.89, which reduced your taxable total to $0. So you didn't have to pay any tax!
Just keep in mind that the screen shows the total AFTER tax. If you want to know your pre-tax total, ask the cashier at any time.
