CVS ~ Good Deal: ~ 7/27-8/2 ~DEAD: CVS ECB Deals - NEW PICS!!

For those of you that might pass this up because of the BEEPING issues (breaks my heart), PLEASE READ THIS!!

A couple years ago coupon barcodes changed from 1 barcode to 2. This allowed the manufacturers to make each coupon more specific to the actual item they wanted the coupon used for. Ie, L'Oreal Vive Hyra Gloss Q won't work with any other "type" of L'Oreal Vive...consider that second barcode the "flavor" number.

With that said, the reason it beeps is 2 fold.

#1 - They have to enter the price...that's easy.

#2 - That 2nd barcode, (8100) 0 40047 is "Flavor" specific. It does NOT mean that you can't use it for other flavors. A lot of times a coupon will be programmed and printed while another "flavor" has just hit the shelves and isn't "programmed" yet. Other reasons could be that there are WAY TOO MANY items that the Q could be used for and they only "picked" the most popular. (By the way, this may happen with any other coupon - it's not THIS coupon specific.)

Solution - tell the cashier to scan the FIRST BARCODE ONLY. The barcode is 522000000144 - fold the coupon in half so that the scanner doesn't see it. It will still beep because you have to enter the price, but it will NOT show as "Item not found." The register screen will say "ENTER AMOUNT" ONLY.
(Disclaimer: This should ONLY be done when you are adhering to the coupon specifications. In this case the coupon says "ANY" - in the L'Oreal Vive Hydra Gloss example above you SHOULD NOT DO THIS to buy any other "flavor" because the coupon READS "On Hydra Gloss" if it said "Any L'Oreal Vive" then by all means fine, but just make sure you are following the terms of the coupon if you have to do this PLEASE.)

Again, keep this trick in mind for other nuisance coupons.

On another note, I just purchased 20 Q's for $5.95 - not a GREAT deal, but look at it this way, you have $25.00 profit to spend. Even if you paid (gasp) $10.00 for the Q's, you're still making $15.00!!!

I ordered 10 $4 coupons from eBay for $7- not too bad considering these coupons have skyrocketed in value recently. Thinking about getting some $3 off coupons- they are a lot cheaper and I won't have to worry about it beeping at the register. ($3.99 product and $4 off coupon-probably will beep). Paying .99 for one of these isn't free, but it's a really good deal. I absolutely LOVE these razors and I dread buying them because they are so expensive. Probably will keep a majority of them and give some as gifts. Does anyone know the limit of how many of the same coupon you can use at the register? My CVS has 3 different kinds of the Schick, and when the shelf is full, there are 5-6 of each. These are going to be really hard to find next week!!

At CVS the $4 coupon would beep, but the computer will also tell the cashier that they can only give you 3.99 off, and they basically just tell it ok... so it's not a bad beep really.

How can your total be zero? Wouldn't you have to pay tax on the items and on the coupons.....so your tax on something like that would be between 4-5 dollars, that plus if I bought coupons on ebay I would be spending well over 6-7 dollars right now. Then, I may have to deal with the fact that my stores won't have enough bags......just doesn't seem worth it to me right now.

Should I try another CVS. The manager at the CVS that is close to my house says all of the time you can not use a B1G1 coupon on their already B1G1 Sales.
What ammunition should I take to fight that deal and get them put through?
She has 1 cashier that's an A- hole every time and doesn't want to take anything that beeps. He sighs, rolls his eyes and then sets it aside. At the end he'll call the manager to come and deal with it and if it's not the manager I was first speaking of it's a different one that acts as if she just fell off the turnip truck and doesn't know how to process anything.
I want to be able to go in there with a solid defense to get these put through.

I know every CVS is run differently, but in Nevada there is no tax on Food/Drinks.
