    HOT Worst Experience Ever At A Store Last Night

    I had the absolute worst experience ever at CVS last night. I went to one that I don’t usually go to, and I told the lady I want to do multiple transactions. This is what I was trying to do:

    Transaction #1
    Cvs face wipes 2.99-$2 CVS coupon=$.99+tax

    Transaction #2
    CVS face wipes 2.99
    2 softsoap body wash b1g1 3.99

    use $2 CVS coupon and (2) .75 manufacturer coupons for softsoap body wash and 2.99 ECB=.47+tax

    Repeat transaction #2 3X

    So, when I got to the register I told her that I’d like to do multiple transactions if possible. She said, “Why?” I told her that’s just how I’d like to pay for my items. I used my debit card for the first transaction so I could get cash back. She nastily told me I can only get $35 cash back and I can only get cash back on the first transaction. No problem. During the 2nd transaction she asked me accusingly if the CVS coupon was photocopied or printed. I told her it was printed. So after the 2nd transaction she says, again nastily, “Oh, I see what you’re doing.” Like I’m a criminal or something. So she gets to the third transaction, and as she’s scanning the coupons she sees ‘Redeem at Publix’ at the bottom of the coupon. Now this is a manufacturer coupon, clearly says so at the top. As far as I know I did nothing wrong, but she’s screaming out, “This is coupon fraud! I’m calling the manager over right now. I already used 2 of them.” She acted like she wanted to call the police on me or something. I tried to explain that they were manufacturer coupons, and that they don’t HAVE to be redeemed at Publix. I got them at Publix, but they can be redeemed at any store that accepts manufacturer coupons. There was no explaining anything to her nor to her supervisor. They were so mean to me. I can see if they just chose not to accept them, but to treat me like a thief? I took them to the CVS down the street and used them with no problem. I have used the other coupons from the same booklet at Kroger many times without any problem. Anyway, I’m still steaming about the whole thing. Was I incorrectly using the coupons, though? If not is there some way to prove this to the store personnel? TIA. Elizabeth

    wow.
    I think the behavior alone warrants a call to customer service.

    as far as the coupons, I am not 100%. If they are MFG coupons then they are ok. It is kinda funny that she took 2 right before with no problem.
    sounds like that cashier was having a VERY bad day!

    I'm very non-confrontational, but to have someone screaming at me?!?!? I'd throw a hissy fit worty of a two y/o! Then I'd stand right in front of her and dial CS to make a complaint. That's outrageous. Someone people shouldn't be allowed to work with the public.

    OMG. I just read the coupon wording. It says in bold at the bottom:

    Redeemable at Food, Drug, Discount and other Stores accepting coupons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    How do you guys think I should handle this? I knew I had done nothing wrong!

    I think I would call CS just as a matter of principal. Regardless of what the coupon says, at this point, you were treated very badly. OMGosh. I would NEVER step foot in that store again. Yep, call and let them know what idiots they have working for them. (and I'm NOT one to call CS and complain!!)

    I called CS. I gave them the store info, the cashier number, and time so they can determine which manager it was. I also told them the wording at the bottom of the coupon, and how I was treated. She apologized and added a $5 ECB to my card that I can print at the machine in 48 hours. Woohoo!

    I'm sorry this happened to you. Some CVS cashiers have just about made me stop shopping there. But I'm addicted to the savings!! I just try to avoid the one store that gives me the most grief.

    From what you have mentioned I would have said something like ...

    "I will be back tomorrow and, with you present, we will call (800) SHOP-CVS to get this matter straightened out."

    (Insinuating to the help: So, get your story straight)

    (800) SHOP-CVS is open / available:

    08:00 am -> 10:00 pm ET, MON -> FRI
    08:00 am -> 08:00 pm ET, SAT
    CLOSED on SUN (and probably holidays too)

    I am a chicken and won't do more than 2 transactions at any store. I like to fly under the radar. :)
