In my experience, and I am an EXTREME newbie, it should not have been necessary. You would have lost .29 in ECBs but that shouldn't have been his concern.

So I had 11.71 in product today and a 12 ECB. The register beeped and the cashier said I had to spend .80.. (HAVE NO IDEA WHERE HE CAME UP with that number???) I tried to convince him it shouldn't matter, but gave up and bought 2 peanut m&m's..

what should I have done differently? given the ECB before the q's? Should my oop have been $0??

Can I use coupons on clearance items?

This is the reply I got from my district manager for CVS.

I am a District Manager with
CVS. Unfortunately we do not accept coupons on clearance items. In
many cases the value of the coupon is greater than the value of the item
as clearance items are typically 50 to 75% off the original retail. I
apologize if this causes any inconvenience for your. Please let me know
if you have any questions. Thanks and have a great day.

Also I emailed corporate about coupon policy, I don't want to quote the whole email publicly, I can forward it to people individually if wanted, but about clearance items (this is a direct quote)

"If an item is marked down or on clearance, coupons will not be accepted."

I'm disappointed. I'm new to couponing and I thought the whole point of coupons was to use them on clearance :)

It depends on your cashier or manager. Some refuse because either they don't know how to adjust down or have been told not to. You can try asking for the manager and see if they will do it. But in my experience, every store behaves differently in this respect.

And he probably said .80 to allow for tax.

I've got an email from corporate that says the exact opposite. If you pm me, I will forward mine to you. I keep it in my coupon folder.

They have to accept rain checks. Rain checks are because they did not have in stock items they advertised would be available. It shouldn't matter what which store you get it from. I would report her.

So I am new to the cvs thing and just received my first email coupon for 4 off 20. I discovered that I can print this coupon as many times as I want. Is it supposed to be a 1 time only deal? Or can I reprint and use this coupon as many times as I want? I want to keep it ethical!

Thanks,
Mary

The cashier will say, "this coupon has already been used" if you try to use more than 1 printing. They can even tell you the date it was used!

This seems like double dipping to me since you didn't pay for it to begin with. TIA.
the refund that you get is the purchase price back, and if you spend zero, most times you get zero back.

I want to make sure I get this right from reading the return policy on post #1. I should get my cash back in cash and my $2 in Qs back on a CVS gift card?? It says "ECBs or MQs" in the question but the answer only said "ECBs". That's why I am dbl checking so I armed when I get to the store...LOL.
most clearance is not returnable. you might have to just give them away.

i answered in posts 3 and 7. clearance percentages are changing, but the basic tuesday sequence remains.

no, there is no rule at all like that.

someone may have said that the deals are easier to make if you keep at least 10 available, but i am down to $3.49, and i could spend them or not, as i please.

i do suggest that you start with 10 dollars cash money, so you can buy things and build up the bucks.
