CVS For Rookies 101

If the limit for a ECB deal is 1 per household with card (For eg, Buy Duracell batteries 4 pk for $2.99 and get $1 ECB deal this week) and if I have 2 cards(one for me and one for DH), can I do the ECB deal seperately with each card and get the ECB twice(once with each card) or is it really limited to one per hh?

Also, CVS has advertised $1 EB for every 2 Rx in this week's (7/19-7/25) ad. I filled 2 scripts this week - one on Sunday and one yesterday but I did not get the $1 ECB. Do I have to wait for these Rx related ECBs or should they print immediately following the qualifying purchases? I made sure I scanned my card during both the purchases.

the limit per household is up to you to keep track of. i do it by only cutting enough coupons for one deal. that way, once i'm out of coupons, i'm done.

the prescription bucks print out with the quarterly bucks, so you should get them the first time you scan your card after october first.

So if a ECB is listed as limit 1 per hh, it really doesn't matter how many cards I have - I can get it only once , right?

If yes, then why do people have multiple cards? I mean, what is the advantage?

i find that different cards get different offers at the register, and i like to have a choice.

Could you explain your remark about using different cards and color coding them? Why would you need to have different cards for CVS? Is there a limit on items you can purchase on one card?

A_i find that if i keep the bucks for each card in white envelopes, it takes longer to match them to the card than when one is in a red envelope, and one in a purple envelope. other than that, there is no benefit.

A_you don't need more. i just was faced with the choice of getting a second card, or getting a single ecb that was over 65 dollars, and it was my first week cvsing. i thought it might be hard to spend a really big buck, so i elected to get another card, and just get a 40 dollar ecb on it.

(if i had not, i could have gotten one carebuck for 100 or 130 dollars, and that scared me.)

Thank you for taking the time to answer all that. I'm in Tulsa and we don't have a CVS here yet, but they have finished building one here at Yale and 71st. The parking lot, building, and landscaping are done, but it is empty inside. I noticed that one was still in the constructing stage up on Memorial.

I ordered a card online and they stated I would have it in about 2 weeks. I figured that would work out great, since it will probably be that long until the store is opened.

I plan on looking at the flyers online and seeing if I can figure out the deals over the next couple of weeks so I have a better idea of what to look for once they open.

Oh yeah, Can you order online and still get the ECBs? Can you use coupons and ECBs while paying online? Would a free shipping amount be from the original price or the price after ecb's and coupons (if they are allowed)?

when you order online, you may NOT use any coupons at all, and the only ecb that can be used is the quarterly bonus.


we normally get either 50 cents or a dollar, so that's not a huge savings.

you also do NOT get ecbs from the things you order online, even if you get it during a week when you would get bucks if you shopped instore.

This is a lot of great information. I've had a CVS card for years and never even thought to do what you all are doing. I am going to work very hard at rolling my ECBs and getting coupons, etc to match up my sales. Thank you!!!
