You said you do not like it when they call you Ms Seedlady and you closed some of your cards for that reason.
Now here is my question. If I have a card that doesnt have a name attached to, can I scan that card at the scanner to get CRT's???? | yes, they still work the same, and will give oars.

Here's what I think I understand - please correct me where I'm wrong!
1. If something in the sales ad says, "Price: $9.99, ECB: $9.99, so it's free!" then I will pay $9.99 (plus tax) OOP & on my receipt, $9.99 of store credit (called ECB?) will print out. I can use that credit the same day; I don't have to wait three months, right?
2. The three month issue is something else entirely. Each quarter, they track my spending & give me back 2% store credit (also called ECB?). If I spend $50 in the first quarter of the year, I have to go into CVS sometime in the second quarter to receive my $1 store credit. (Do I have to buy something, just to get it to print out on a receipt, before I can use it?) | 1. the ad says- it's LIKE getting it free. you would buy and pay for the 9.99 item, and a little paper gift card would print on the bottom of that receipt.
it can be spent 4 seconds later, on your next order. or it can be saved and used another time, up to 4 weeks later. after 4 weeks and a day, it is only a bookmark.
2. cvs keeps track, on every receipt, how much oop you have spent. 4 times a year, if you have spent at least 25 dollars, a mini gift card prints either at the register or at the scanner, or you could print it out at home. i don't recommend that- it freaks out the employees where i live, who tend to believe that i'm printing out my own money, anyway.
it's not a problem- we try to get the least possible back. 50 cents is good, nothing is better. (unless you have money from prescriptions.) |

Are the coupons random, or somehow based on how much you've spent, or what you've bought? I think I saw someone say random, but with all this info, I feel sure I've mixed a couple things up. It's a lot to remember, with each store doing things differently! | scan your card, just like you are checking a price, and most machines will print out a few coupons.
at the beginning, they will be random, then about 6 weeks in, you will start to get them tailored to your own shopping pattern. the final 2 will be for cvs house brand items. everyone gets those same 2 that week. thus, i call them the automatics. you scan, you automatically get those 2.

is there anything you can do if you are only getting the "house" coupons from the scanner? i have 2 cards and the scanner never spits out anything but the cvs item q's of the week...also nothing prints on the crt usually (i did get the free items last week on the crts, though).
i very often (2 or 3 times a week) get the "no coupons available today" message when i use the scanner for the first time in a day.
does cvs hate me? | sometimes ya just hit a dry period. it happens. in 3 months it should change. i personally believe that the oars are on a quarterly basis.

| Re: CVS -seedlady's wagon train (a guide for newbies.) good morning!
it's been a while since i posted something just to teach you something, but this has been on my mind.
we use abbreviations to save time, and sometimes we invent our own.
but, to cvs , ecbs are "carebucks". the whole program is extracare, and the money is carebucks. knowing that will make it easier when you phone them.
cvs calls the things that print on the receipt "oars" for offer at the register. i do also, since a crt is the whole tape, and even ecbs print on it.
also, the term "crt" has been standard for "cash register tape" for years and years. we used to call it that when talking about refunds- you needed to mail in the "pop" or proof of purchase, which often was the crt or upc. then "pop" changed to "q" , which stood for qualifier- the thing that qualifies you to get the refund.
"c" was used for coupon.
i'm just saying.

Thanks for the help! | flip it over. it should say something like "good at any cvs store"
AND "never expires".
both are good things to point at while you discuss life with a manager who wants to send you to another store to redeem the thing. |

Thanks. | you might want to call 1800shopcvs and ask. i think they can see the coupons you are supposed to get, and if they think you ARE getting, but instead the machine is snacking on them, they might be able to fix it.
my other idea is to buy something small on our way INTO the store, so they print on the cash register tape.
then go scan, and you should get the 2 automatic coupons- whatever they are this week.

| Re: CVS -seedlady's wagon train (a guide for newbies.) okie dokie, poky- more homework.
in the 8/23 newspaper insert, there is ( or might be) a 10 dollar coupon off the aviva diabetes monitor.
also, in all 3 of my papers, there is a lovely ad that gives the 10 dollar price, minus the coupon, which equals the price FREE. and they spell it out. this is a LOVELY thing to have in your binder, in case you meet a cretin who insists that
CVS WILL NOT LET YOU USE THE COUPON- OR the item would be "gasp gasp" FREE !!
my usual 2 questions, when faced with this problem, are, in as innocent a tone as i can manage " then why would the manufacturer pay to put the coupon in the paper?"
followed by- " but why would cvs pay extra to have this ad in the paper if they didn't want me to use it?".
and then i stand and stare at them. this is normally highly effective.
go save an ad, and put it into your binder. |
