Re: CVS Brag Thread It was a cold, crisp night. I had a long 3 hour trip ahead of me and if I timed it right I would get home in time to see Private Practice but would miss Grey's Anatomy. My mom had given me permission to help her at CVS as she had not ever really used the ECB program. As I drove I realized I would be passing a small town with a CVS. I decided to stop in. Virgin territory for me, lol.
A fresh card, with no deals done yet for the month or the week! A new CVS, with lots of my wish list in stock. No ECB's to start, but I had taken coupons with me and I was prepared for the hunt!
Quickly I gathered 5 Colgate Totals, 2 Neutragena bars, 8 cotton rounds, 2 Earinse, a Fusion Gamer razor, and an Airborne Squid soap.
I approached the counter; the store had light business at that hour. In fact, the cashier was trying to vacuum the floor. I mentioned that I wanted to do multiple transactions...and she said no problem.
I started small, with just 2 Colgates. My mom got the $5/$15 purchase coupon and the $25 off a new or transferred prescription coupon as well, right off the bat! Jackpot! I then proceeded to do numerous transactions. I stepped aside whenever anyone else came to the register. Then we started up again. This was the most helpful cashier I had ever encountered! I told her I had "studied up" to prepare for the visit; she started rooting for the ECB's that were printing out. Midway through the transactions she reached behind the counter and gave me next week's ad. Later, she gave me the March monthly ad as well!
Once I finished my mom's stuff I went back and got the Fusion Gamer and 3 more Colgate for myself. More transactions! And I got the $5/15 coupon, too! And the $3/2 shampoos, etc. What a night!
I left with my mom's ECB's totalling near $26 and I had spent around $11 OOP for her: $3.40, $.60, $.21, $.00, $4.55, $2.26.
My own transactions were $.39, and $.82, adding to the one I had for $.27 earlier in the week. My ECB's were growing, too. As I continued my trip I went over the transactions in my head, trying to determine if I could have minimized the OOP any further than I had. By the time I got home, I missed seeing Private Practice, but I still had a big smile on my face from the good experience at CVS with the well stocked store, nice and helpful cashier, and all the great ECB deals! Thanks, HCW for showing me how to shop CVS! |
