Default Some Emails from Customer Care

Someone was told that ECB's were allowed on purchases of alcohol and tobacco in the state of Ohio so I emailed CS to confirm.

Kim to customercare
Apr 5

I have a friend who lives in Ohio. She told me that ExtraCare Bucks can now be used to purchase alcohol and tobacco in that state. Can you tell me if this is correct and, if so, are there any other states where this is allowed?

Thanks!

Kim

Dear Valued Customer,

I apologize for the confusion but you have been misinformed. Extra Bucks can not be used to purchase any of the following...

Lottery, Postage Stamps, Alcohol, Tobacco, Gift Card, Prepaid Cards, Money Orders and Prescriptions.

If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact us either by e-mail or by calling (800) 746-7287. Thank you for taking the time to contact us. I hope you have a nice day.

Sincerely,

UPDATE Some Emails from Customer Care

Edited 5/27 to add: Here's an even better response. Very detailed. I used the old questions from a year ago.

Rookies:Suggested Reading (look at the bottom of this page)

This email did not answer all the questions I asked but, it's better than nothing.

Dear Valued Customer,

I would like to provide you with an answer to your question regarding the number of Extra Bucks that may be used per purchase.

First, an open ended coupon is one that is not earned such as, $2 off $10 purchase, $3 off $15 purchase, $4 off $20 purchase, $5 off $30 purchase, $10 off $50 purchase, $15 off $75 purchase, per transaction. These open ended coupons can not be used with another open ended coupon.

For example: the transaction amount is $25 and you have a $2 off $10 and a $3 off $15. You can ONLY use one of these coupons, not both.
Open ended coupons can be used with an ExtraBucks coupon (earned coupon). For example:
The transaction amount is $25 and you have a $2 off $10 and an ExtraBucks coupon for $5. You CAN use BOTH coupons on this transaction.

Additional info:
Limit of one purchase-based savings coupon, i.e., $2 off $10 purchase, $3 off $15 purchase, $4 off $20 purchase, $5 off $30 purchase, $10 off $50 purchase, $15 off $75 purchase, per transaction. The purchase threshold must be met for each offer amount on a per-transaction basis.

Legal copy used on Emailed coupons:
This coupon is the copyrighted property of CVS; it is intended for use by ExtraCare cardholders who subscribe to CVS’s email program and have received this message directly from CVS/pharmacy. CVS/pharmacy reserves the right to reject any coupon presented by parties outside of the original distribution list. Original coupon must be relinquished at the time of purchase. Coupon is void if copied, transferred and where prohibited by law. CVS/pharmacy will not accept offers printed from unauthorized internet postings or reproductions, copies, or facsimiles of this offer.

Our registers are set to allow 1 CVS coupon and 1 manufacturer coupon per item. However, the staff should be allowing customers to use Extra Bucks in combination with other CVS coupons since these are coupons you have “earned.” In addition, similarly they should be allowing the use of “offer at the register” coupons which would be an open offer of $3 off of $15 or a certain dollar amount off of a specific item. Since our registers are programmed to only accept 2 coupons (1 CVS, 1 manufacturer) per item if the number of coupons exceed the items purchased a member of management will need to assist the cashier in processing the coupons.

Stores retain the right to refuse or limit coupons at their discretion.

I regret to inform you that at this time we are no longer able to reset lost or expired coupons. In the past we have reset coupons as a courtesy however; we are no longer able to grant this request. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your understanding in this matter.

If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact us either by e-mail or by calling (800) 746-7287. Thank you for taking the time to contact us. I hope you have a nice day.

Sincerely,

Rita H

Default Message from Customer Care Re: # of cards

I tried to put this in the thread from customer care but it was closed.

Dear *******,
Thank you for contacting CVS/Pharmacy Extracare in regards to how many Extracare cards you may have. I am happy to assist you. When you have an Extracare account, you are allowed as many cards of that Extracare account that you wish to have, but we do suggest only having one Extracare account per household to reduce confusion.
If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact us either by e-mail or by calling (800) 746-7287. Thank you for taking the time to contact us. I hope you have a nice day.
Sincerely,

I asked how many extra care cards I could have per household. I thought it was against their policy to have more than one account per household.

It seems that I was wrong.

(I still think it is uncool to have a multiple cards and clear the shelves. But it is not my call.)

From the way I'm reading that e-mail, it seems that they are saying you can only have one account per household, but that you are more than welcome to have multiple cards (so that your spouse, children, or other people that live with you can have a card for your household account) for a single account.

They aren't saying you can't have more than one account. They merely suggest just the one to "reduce confusion". Because we aren't smart enough to read a name and card number on an ECB?

But they are encouraging you to have multiple cards for a single account.

Yes I interpret it the same way as gctattoo. They said that they suggest only having one Extracare account per household to reduce confusion. I read that to mean that if you're organized to keep up w/ it, they don't have a specific policy against it. It is up to your store, though, if they will allow it or not if they know, and they do have the right to limit quantities to the amounts listed in the ads if they don't like someone doing multiple cards. Just b/c CS doesn't have a problem w/ it doesn't mean it will fly at everyone's store...

I don't think it is uncool to have multiple cards/account, but I do think it is uncool to clear the shelves.

I also see it as you can have more than one account. It's a suggestion. You can take it or leave it. I personally have enough trouble with one card and going to CVS to roll is starting to become a chore, so I'll stick with my one.
