HELP Are the CVS weekly ads getting skimpy?

There seems to be a trend in the weekly ads away from ECB's in favor of getting a "free" water multi-pack, CVS sunblock, etc. I've only been on the bandwagon for a couple of months now... is this typical of what happens over the summer, or is it a signal that the "good times" are coming to an end?

From what I've read elsewhere on the forums, it seems to come and go. The other thing to bear in mind is that some deals are going to be more appealing to others, depending on what coupons folks have for things.

Like PP said, sales come and go and some deals may be hot to some, not so hot to others. There have been *hot* summers, like '06 when there were deals for free shampoo every week and playtex sport tampons. There were also beauty coupons that made for lots of free/cheap cosmetics.

I surmise that when CVS is composing their ads that they ask themselves:

Q) Should we be generous this week and offer some great deals, etc?

There is a whole science to how a store sales flyer is laid out.

+

Also deals occur in unofficial cycles.

I have been shopping at CVS LONG before I found this site.

I feel the deals are getting worse: fewer items w/ ECB, lower limits on # of times you may do the deal, lower ECB back for $ spent on both the weekly & monthly deals.

that said, I know there can be weeks I do NOT find the deals appealing at a particular store and I do not shop that store. This has happened at WAG & Target regularly, but not befoe at CVS.

I have been shopping CVS for almost two years now. Deals are getting more scarce and ECBs are lower or just for CVS items no one would purchasde otherwise if not free.

Yep, I have to agree with a couple of PP's. Been doing this for a few years and the deals, while they are still good, are getting harder to spot and fewer.

I guess that's to be expected when the number of hard core couponers goes UP and the economy goes DOWN.

Few months back I was able to have anywheres from $50-$75 worth of ECB's for each card now it seems I can't keep more then $25-30. Which is fine but yes the deals are harder to come by.

I think the deals at CVS are awful. It seems they do get worse each week. I think they are tired of the couponers, so they are trying to get us to stop shopping there. lol but they don't realize couponers will just try harder.

I feel not only is there less deals that when the do have them, they do not even have enough stock. What few monthly deals I wanted last month I could not get because of no stock. I should have asked for a raincheck but I thought I would be back one more time before the end of the month and it did not happen.
