Default I Stood my ground with a cashier....

and won!!! Yipee!!!!

I am usually non-confrontational but I had a wild hair or something yesterday....lol.

I went to a CVS I don't go to weekly/regularly and purchased my last Smart Rinse. I had a bunch of other stuff, but I just had a $3 off $10 CVS Q , smrt rinse printable, and my ecbs. So, the cashier, AFTER she scans the printable says, " I can't take this" I look at her quizzingly and say, " Um...it scanned" She replied, " I know...but I can't take it" I took a deep breath and said firmly and strongly, " You have to take it. Look, I will call Customer Service after I walk out this door and then they will call you back and make you take the coupon. It's happened before. The not taking internet printable policies refer to the 3 off 15 illegitimate coupons, not this one. I got this from the Listerene website" So she goes to her manager who is 2 registers over and shows him it. I look him in the eye and say, " It's a legit coupon. If you don't take it, I'll call Customer Service." VERY slowly and firmly. He looks at her and puts his signature on the coupon and she accepts it!!!!!

I wasn't mean, or yelling, but I was firm and stated the facts. I hate that the friggin' employees don't understand the rules, but I've talked with CVS customer service before over internet printables and had a CVS manager call me with apologies....I knew I was in the right and he KNEW I was going to get my way one way or the other...so he relented....

Learn from this experience.

+

Be careful, threatening to call Customer Service will only work so many times.

I use the 'I will call Customer Service' threat as a last resort and also call while I am still at the store.

+

I find that the less I say to the help at the checkout, the better.

So, I choose my words wisely.

Good for you!!! I had to do the same for the first time the other day too... The cashier didn't want to take my .75Q off the .99 Dove deodorant. She said, "You can't USE these.. you have to buy what's in the picture." I pointed out the coupon clearly says "any size"... she relented without much more. On my next transaction I mistakenly grabbed 4 Shick and 2 CVS brand razors. She again pointed out, "You can't USE this coupon".. but she'd totaled the order and wasn't able to go back to void out the 2 CVS razors.. this of course required manager intervention... and a re-ring of the entire transaction.

On the re-ring, she rang up 2 x 625 count cotton sawbs and 1 x 500 count. When I pointed out her mistake (I was buying 1x625 and 2x500) she said, "I know that... you don't have to yell at me." At no time had I raised my voice to even a normal level of talking... which I pointed out... and her reply was, "Do you want me to ring you up or not?" I politely pointed out that that was in fact, HER JOB.

<SIGH> The rude CVS employee was bound to come along at some point... I'm happy to say that every other transaction I've had has been most pleasant! (And that's a LOT of transactions these days!! LOL)
