Email from CVS on BOGO sale and BOGO coupon

I'm fairly new and I apologize if this has been covered but the cashiers at my local CVS all have different ideas of how a BOGO sale and coupon work together so I emailed CVS and got this response.

Dear Ms. M:

Thank you for contacting CVS/pharmacy regarding our coupon acceptance policy.

If an item is on Buy One Get One Free (BOGOF) sale you are welcome to use one coupon on ONE item. We can only accept a coupon on the item that you are actually paying for. However if the item is on BOGOF sale and you have a coupon for BOGOF on the same item the store needs to apply the coupon and that way you get both items for free. You only need to pay the applicable sales tax.

I hope you find this information sufficient. Please do not hesitate to let us know if we can be of any further assistance in this matter.

I sent another email to clarify the first part because previously I was told one coupon per item, regardless of whether or not you're getting one free. Still waiting for a response on that.

I thought some of you might be able to use this to help convince your cashiers that the BOGO coupon for lifesavers next week means you get them all free.

Thanks!! Now I have the email spelling out the BOGO policy (to show cashiers who give me a hard time) and can use the response you gave in your link to question the use of only one coupon during a BOGO sale, if CS comes back with the same response a second time...

So what about a regular priced or sale item (not bogo) AND a bogo coupon? You are allowed to use the bogo AND an additional $ off right? Just curious.

I had recently email about using more than one ECB in a single transaction and below is the email response I received. HTH
Dear Ms XXXX
ALL Earned Extra Bucks coupons associated with an ExtraCare card may now be redeemed in a single transaction. The retail price must be greater than the combined total of all coupons. Please keep in mind there is no cash value back for any unused portion of the coupon.
NOTE: Use of Manufacturer coupons remains limited to one per item in any transaction.
If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact us either by e-mail or by calling (800) 746-7287. Thank you for taking the time to contact us. I hope you have a nice day.

Thanks for this Ben10! Now I have an actual CSR name to put to both policies, the BOGO coupon in a BOGO sale and 1 manufacturer coupon per EACH item.

I can't wait to see what they come back with since I asked for clarification on the 1 per item policy. Wouldn't it be nice if they didn't seem to make up rules as they went along?

I had emailed them way back in May of 2006 regarding coupon policy. On BOGO sales, this is what she said:
" On BOGO free items, you may use a coupon for each item. In reality you are purchasing two items."

I have never had a problem with cashiers accepting two coupons on a bogo sale.......but I carry this letter with me always, just in case!

BOGO is just 50% off both items, so in theory, if you have a coupon for each you should be able use them.... do seperate transactions :)
