Re: Weights and Measures seen at my store No matter how old or new your CVS is has nothing to do with the expired items. Instead it goes back to the warehouse, hours, and sales. The warehouse gets in a lot of stock on items, but each CVS store is sent only a basic amount of it, sometimes 2-4 pieces, unless they order more. So many times, the stock comes in already expired. The stores don't have enough hours for their employees to do everything required and take care of customers, so many times they will miss the date or forget to look. And since most of the sales which move the product are for non-perishables, the item can sit on the shelf a long time.
Now - - that said, it isn't always the warehouse's fault. If the product isn't moving, it will sit there until it expires. And if the employees aren't told to check for expireds, or they don't have enough hours to do it - it doesn't get done.
However; the warehouse should have some form of checking on their inventory to make sure they aren't shipping out expireds to the store. And I know they are, because I have been there on truck day and watch them pull the stock out and it be expired already - sometimes by months!
Perhaps, it is done intentionally so they can attempt to recoup the money on the item? I don't know. But I bet that it will get tightened down on them for a while. |
