Default How often do you get the look from your cashier?

Let me just say I have spent about $27 at CVS this week so I am not the pro some are on here.

Today I did two transactions. I really was working on making sure I only got great deals after spending $27 yesterday. Not that I didn't get great deals but sometimes I buy things I might not because it is a good deal. Like 6 bags of twizzlers at one time(my daughter and husband loves this candy) but would I have bought that much at one time without an incentive?

Well today my first transaction was zero oop and my second was 4 cents. I used a total of $16 ECBs and got 22 ECBs back.

I got the following:

18 soyjoy(2 more to finish a 4 ecb I had started) 5 b2g1 Qs
1 Robitussin 1/1 Q 75% off
2 Dimetapp 1.50/1 Q 75% off
1 colegate toothpaste 1.50/1 Q
1 Aleve gel 1.50/1 CVS Q and 1/1 Q

total 4 cents

Well the guy who check me out was so disturbed by it. You should have seen the look on his face. It was kind of scary and I quickly gathered my bag. I had to put my items in the bag from my second transaction becuase he was so mad. Well I was in a good mood because I was able to find all the items I wanted and just thank him and told him to have a nice day very politely. I wonder if that even mad him more mad because I wasn't upset with his reaction.

There is such a wide degree of reactions from cashiers. Last night at a different store the cashier was like did you know there are Qs for the soyjoy and just all around coupon friendly. We actually talk about the CVS deals and shopping. Like the differences between WAGs, Riteaid and CVS.

I do not pay attention most of the time, I really do not care how the cashier feels about my OOP, especially when using ECB's to get it down.

I agree, some are really cool about it and some are so annoyed as if you are taking money out of their pocket.
The manager at the CVS closest to me is awesome and same with Walgreen's so if they are cool with it what is up with some of their staff?
This guy yesterday was so tweaked that I got 10 powerades, 4 2liters of coke, 20 candy bars, pack of hamburger buns, for $5.99 oop.
No one was behind me so I wasn't holding up the line or anything and I didn't hold a gun to his head or ask him to pay for it out of his pocket and he's not a manager. But he was so tweaked with me.
I think he's just wishing that he'd had the talent and ability that we all have in saving money.
Look at it this way until they start paying our bills who cares if they get mad, that's their problem don't make it yours.
Hugs and High Five's.

My goal is always an OOP of less than $2. I have been CVSing since October and have never received any negative feedback regarding coupons until last week. My favorite store now has a new manager and suddenly the cashier was scrutinizing each of my coupons. She asked me where I got each one of them and questioned whether each was valid. It's really none of her business where I get my coupons. She can either accept or reject them as far as I'm concerned. It seemed like 5 minutes later (probably not 5 minutes, but I was embarassed so who knows) she decided the coupons were valid and scanned them all. I paid 27 cents and left the store with my 2 bags of merchandise in hand. I think the new manager has the cashiers so scared over coupons that they are going overboard and it just pisses off the customers. This is clearly a training issue. CVS, please educate your employees as to what is really a legitimate coupon. Defining "tact" may not be a bad idea either. She was so rude!

Seems like his looks were obvious and bothered you. I might have said: "Is everything OK?" (sarcastically) in order to tease out his true feelings. What do I have to lose by this? Nothing, since I've done nothing wrong and can complain about him if I want to.

But I do have somehting to gain - preventing a much bigger, uglier blow-up the next time.

Interesting you ask this. As I was talking to a gal at church this morning I menitioned that I heard she works at CVS (yeah...I was settin' her up, lol). We talked a bit and I said that I really appreciate CVS more now that I know how to shop smartly. She said, "Oh, but you should SEE some people...walking out of the store with $30, $40 worth of stuff for $.27"

I smiled and said, "Yep, that's me!" She looked like she wanted to crawl under a rock. To ease the awkward moment I did say that I don't feel that I abuse it at all-I work hard for those deals! She then said that some people get the CVS brand stuff dirt cheap and then try to return it later without receipts and get full value.

While this doesn't excuse a clerk from being flat-out rude, I can see where this would annoy the dirt out of employees.

Eh...I'll just keep smiling and shopping - oh, and I promised to come visit her and use my coupons there! She did laugh a bit then....

I have the greatest cashier at CVS. i only go when he is there. He tells me what order to give the coupons for the least OOP. Since i am pretty new at this I really appreciate it. I asked him if he hated couponers like me and he said no way! He said he is always impressed. Then he asked how he could save like me and I told him about this site. Then two more people in line behind me asked me about it too. I hope he never leaves!

I dont think I've ever had any be rude. I've had a couple scrutinize coupons or not let me use some (sometimes they say 1 per customer...whatever) but I dont think rude. I've had a couple be really nice about it, though, saying "Wow, you got such good deals!" I like those cashiers better. Seems we have 1 store here that has more of the friendly ppl...the less friendly ones are at the store closer to my house, so I hate to go to the other one but the ppl are so much better @ the one about 5 min down the road from the "not friendly" one.

I actually had a really good experience today. Let me preface this by saying I don't do back to back transactions because I just feel weird about it. I like to fly under the radar as much as possible. Well today, I was getting 4 Bounty basic, 1 Charmin (they are both $4.99 here so I had to get the Charmin to get over $20), 1 CVS bandages and 1 rainbow Twizzlers (75% off). The cashier scanned the bandages and the Twizzlers and then asked if I wanted to get the rest separate so I could use the ECBs I would earn from the bandages! I have NEVER had that happen before. I politely declined because of course I had plenty of ECBs to cover it all. She went on to say that she was a coupon girl and even if she didn't work there she would still shop there for the deals. I'll have to remember to try to go to her in the future!

I've dealt with this on both sides, some cashiers are so cool, while others cringe when you walk in the door. There is this one cashier who hates me so much........LOL She'll make sure she rings me up just to try and ruin my deals. One time she purposely put my $10/$50 crt at the bottom of my coupons thinking she was going to prevent me from using it, to her surprise it scanned when my order was way under $50 after my MFRQ's. I thought it was pretty funny.
