CS Response to question about what ECB's can be used on

Someone was told that ECB's were allowed on purchases of alcohol and tobacco in the state of Ohio so I emailed CS to confirm.

I have a friend who lives in Ohio. She told me that ExtraCare Bucks can now be used to purchase alcohol and tobacco in that state. Can you tell me if this is correct and, if so, are there any other states where this is allowed?

Lottery, Postage Stamps, Alcohol, Tobacco, Gift Card, Prepaid Cards, Money Orders and Prescriptions.

I have heard that they are okay for propane exchange.

I've never tried it there because I don't think any of my CVS stores have propane. WAGs and Rite-Aid does, but not CVS.

Wow! Do they say that on the ecbs?
I have used mine on occassion for wine cause it just says excludes prescriptions, other exclusions may apply.

I can see how this could happen if you are buying other items along with the alcohol.

But going in, grabbing a bottle, and handing the cashier an ECB? That actually worked?

Yes, I went in and bought a bottle of champagne, nothing else for New Years and paid with ecbs! I had no clue we couldn't use them for that

LOL, the only thing better than champagne is free champagne.

I asked a few weeks ago if they could be used on gift cards (ie. itunes, applebees, etc.) and the cashier said she didn't think so but we could try. I didn't want to lose my ECB's so asked how we'd know. She said that if it wasn't allowed then it would beep and not take the ECB. It was at Easter and I needed 2 itunes gift cards for the bunny and it went through just fine. She rang it up and off I went. I know it wasn't a good use of them, but it was something I needed and it saved me the money out of pocket at the time. Was this not supposed to be allowed?

I am still waiting on my response. I emailed them on saturday night /sunday morning.
