Cub Foods ~ Question Free Item if you catch error?

Interesting experience at Cub Food in Eagan this weekend. The deal was Tide Liquid 96 load for 19.99. You buy more then 25.00 of participating products you get $7.00 off you next grocery order. I was buying the Tide & the Bounce to qualify. I could not find the liquid Tide that was 96 load w/o bleach. I dug around the bottom shelf and found one. The whole section of Tide Liquid 96 loads was not marked so I told my wife to watch when the cashier scanned to make sure it rang up right. Sure enough, the register did not have it on sale. It rang up at $21.99. I showed the cashier the ad and said this should be on sale for $19.99. She called the shift leader over to verify. Then she said the shift leader if the item was free because we found an error. The shift leader replied, yep. So she took it off our tab and handed it to us, and said good catch. So apparently if you catch an error at the register you get that item for free? that was a free $20.00 off our bill. Very nice.

Anyone else hear of that? I love that Cub in Eagan, they are very liberal with coupons, and they also are very willing to do any subsitutions if they don't have the advertised items. Generally they do better products then the one they had on sale.

I have heard other people say that also. I have never had that happen to me. I belive even if you bring it to customer service they should also give it to you free.

At my Cub in Northfield I have gotten my first item free and the difference back on the other like items in my order when I took my receipt to customer service. If I mention the discrepancy to the cashier, I generally just get the price adjusted to the correct price. Usually I just have the cashier correct the price if it is a few cents and only bother with customer service if I miss it during checkout or if it is a larger error.

I have never caught them on such a large ticket item, good catch

. Did they take it off as just a generic discount so you still got your $7 Cat too?

gosh darn it, remember when the Unilever products were on sale with the overlap double dip? The stayfree pads did not ring up at $2 as advertised for the second week, instead it rung up at $3. I should have brought that to their attention.

Is there a quantity limit on how many you can get for free? Or is it just one? for instance, you had 5 tide detergent (for example lol) in your shopping cart which u planned on buying, if you caught the error, will they give you all 5 free or just one?

They will only give you one free, and then price adjust to rest to the correct price.

No, they did not give me the $7.00, next grocery order coupon. I figured that was fine if the Tide was free, although I would not have bought the Bounce. I should have gone back and got another Tide to qualify for the $7.00 next grocery order coupon. Although $20.00 is better then $7.00, and I didn't want to appear to be ripping them off too bad.

Cub, also has a policy if you find an expired item you get a like non-expired item free. You can generally get lucky looking in the cheese curd pile to find one expired item. I just grab that one, and then the non-expired item.

Did you guys see in the last weeks circular that they are starting to require the 20.00 or whatever the amount is to be pre-coupon, to get your register coupon for the next visit? Is anyone else upset about that?

Really? I did not see that. I am a little disappointed, but it's ok, this gives me a reason to not spend money on stuff I don't need.

As long as they continue to accept expired coupons, I AM STRAIGHT.
