I consider the daycare a necessity too!
But does it count as healthcare or educational for the Discover promo?
I figure with the daycare cost, I can easliy reach the $300 yearly cash back limit set by most cards. I currently use one for airline mileage but i'm not too happy with it lately. I'd like a new card without a yearly fee and without a yearly limit for the rewards. And I don't see a cruise in my near future! Maybe a new airline rewards card would be better... Too much to consider!

It takes a toll free phone call to find out! However I wouldn't be satisfied with their rep verbal yes or no. Ask them to send you a disclosure what qualifies under these categories, or refer you to a place at their website where you can see that info.
Call 1-800-DISCOVER (1-800-347-2683), ask about their cycles.
Up to the end of March they offer 5% off travel related charges, April to June 5% on shopping @ HD, Sears, Kohls, Lowe's, etc.

I definitely make more money from credit card incentives than I do with coupons and sales :(.

I've probably gotten a couple grand over the past 12 months from cash back, as well as signup promotions.

The $500 in home Depot cards from Amex was sufficient to repaint my house!

    Oh, to buy it.

Heck, to pay someone...they wanted $1500 just to do three inside rooms. I shudder what they would want to paint the outside.

Actually, I had a retired guy across the street offer to paint my outside for $1000, INCLUDING paint. I should have taken him up on it. Considering it cost me ~$500 for the outside and primer, it would have been a good deal...for me!
