Need Help With Credit

I have a great credit score but i cant seem to get a credit card i always only get offered secured credit cards can anybody tell me what credit card companies will give me one?

Dont get one! Pay cash. If you dont have the cash you dont need it spend money that you dont have it only makes things worse in the end. I know some will disagree with me because of bonus points and ect they you earn with the cards but most peopl just dont have the brain power to charge $60 then take and pay it off right away so you dont let the card get to high and have to pay fees ect...

I have a debit card on threw my checking but it take the cash/money then no chargeing...

credit cards usually end up making many live beyond there means.

What is your credit score like? Do you have history of credit? And do you have verifiable income?

i have an 800 credit score and i dont have a history of credit and i do have verifiable income

sounds like you need to start with a small card, like a dept store or gas card. be careful not to apply/open for too many cards at once. that will lower your score.

Wander how you have a score of 800 with no credit - maybe due to utilities in your name?

Ya, not sure how you would have that kind of credit with no kind of credit.

Do you have a mortgage? Is it from your husbands credit possibly?

I got my first credit card through Capital One. I was 18 and a senior in highschool. At the time, they were really great at helping students establish credit & get cards with smaller limits. I also got a VS card for the rewards and that helped boost my credit.

I have been a pleased credit card customer of Chase, Discover, Capital One, Citi, Target, Victorias Secret and American Eagle. I had most of those off and on while in College- with little credit history. Now, I have Chase, Discover and Citi. We rarely use Discover or Citi.

I HATE Bank of America. Will not even consider getting a card through them.

I'd look for cards that encourage students to apply... they seem to be geared towards people just starting out with credit cards.

You could always try to get a credit card from Lowes, they're pretty easy to get. We got one a few months ago and they offered us $350.00 but the associate asked for an increase right then and there and they came back with $1350.00 not to bad. We really needed a ride on mower because we just closed on our house and push mowing 1 1/2 acres was getting really tedious. Lowes runs deals here and there that if you make a purchase over $299.00 you get 18mo no interested, so we plan to pay off the mower before we incur any interest on it.

What I did to start out with was get any and all store cards I could get. Like J C Penney, Nordstrom, even some local stores. I also got a gas card. I used these for all of my purchases that I made at these places, being careful not to overspend so I paid the bills off in full each month. After doing this for about 6 months I applied for a Visa card and got it.
