I could be very wrong, but I didn't think the apr mattered if you paid it off each month.
We're expecting, and I've wanted to ramp up my upromise savings a bit, so I bit the bullet and applied for the Upromise CC.
Does anyone else have one? Do you use it as your primary CC? If I can be nosy, what's your YTD Upromise earnings?
I've had a upromise account for a little over a year, and I've only done the e-coupons and the dining club thingy, but since we don't eat out very often, and I don't really ever buy the stuff that they have coupons for, I haven't earned too much.
The card has a 0% APR for 11 months and we pay off the balance each month, my plan is to only charge the groceries each month (10% extra earnings on groceries)- pay the amount off the same day (go home write a check and mail it), and when the 0% APR is over- evaluate if we still want to use the card as much.
Overall, the normal (no promotional) apr is 3% less than the card we currently have, and the potential for earnings for the little cub's college seems pretty awesome...But at the same time I want to be realistic and use the card responsibly.
I'd love to hear from other upromise users.

My baby boy was born June 28, 2011!!
APR doesn't matter as long as you pay it off each month. It only matters if you carry a balance.
I do Upromise but not the card. My current cc that we run all our expenses through and pay off each month gives us upto 2.5% back annually and we always earn the 2.5% so the Upromise card's incentives aren't as good. Also if you read the fine print there are so many things they don't give "extra" upromise money for it is ridiculous. I'd rather just have an incentive cc for normal use.
Both of our children have NC 529 accounts and we contribute $50/month to each, so we aren't avoiding saving for college; just doing it differently.
BTW, I have been a member for a little over 3 years and with friends and family and everything, my Upromise account has only $248 of which all but $6 has already been automatically transferred to their 529 accounts. All I do is the e-coupons and normal earnings from CVS, grocery store etc.

I have a Upromise account and have been a member since 2007. At one point we had over $5,000 in it for our two children...but then depleted it when one went to school. We have started over again and are in the process of building it back up for out 1 grandchild and our soon to be born grandchild. Our other child passed away last year.
But in answer to your question. I do have the CC. I always pay it off as soon as we put something on it, but as my DH can attest, anytime we make a purchase, especially if it is something that I buy through the Upromise site, I always tell him to break out the Upromise card so I can earn the cash back. It may take a while to build up, but with one GC at 3 years old and one on its way to being born...we have a bit to build the accts back up.

We did the same thing. I started by using the account (no CC) to earn grocery/Q "rewards," but the account was growing painfully slow. I then decided to bite the bullet and get the CC. Doing the same thing that you have planned, we pay it off every month, and it is actually our only CC. Large purchases, etc. make our acct. grow much faster than not having the CC. It is also nice to cash in the rewards that we normally wouldn't get to.
