HELP SOS CC number stolen!

Just discovered my CC was stolen {numbers only not actual card}. Chase bank cought it because it was used out of state & at gas stations {we don't have a car, so atypical} and is sending out a new card, etc.

I only use the card to pay bills online, so I have no idea how the card number got stolen.

I have 2 other cards with BOA & US airways - do I need to call those and have them cancel the old numbers, send new cards, etc?

If it were me I would cancel them all and get new ones.. its possible someone used a back door hacking program that records key strokes on your computer or the business you use them for online has some problems.. either way, cancel and replace! Better to be safe than sorry and make sure you use different passwords for all the accounts. GL!

Just the one that was hacked is the only one that you should need to cancel, why go through all the hassle of canceling them all of them on the off chance. Just watch the other two really closely for awhile and I bet you will find it was only on the one.

Yep, in fact you shouldn't have to cancel the CC at Chase---They should have already done so and issued you a new one. I know when this happened on my CC as soon as I said that I did not make the charge they immediately cancelled my card and issued another one.

As and added comment the CC that I had the numbers compromised was not the one I use online so some clerk/waitress/waiter wrote down my numbers since they also had the 3-number code from the back. I am also notified by my CC's everytime there is a charge of $50.00 or more. If you are not I would find the option and do so.

I had my debit card compromised just last year. It was actually caused by a bank hack not on my end at all. I only had to get a new debit card (and only that one my other accounts weren't affected). But make sure you watch the others closely just in case. And run a scan on your computer to make sure there isn't any tracking software on there just as a precausion.

Add me to the group of this happened to me also. Not sure how mine happened as I don't use cc's. Not that I don't have them but try to use cash only basis. The card company informed me through email and issued me a new card. Lucky I contacted them as I thought it was a spam email when they told me. Always call the # on the back of your card and not an email # just to be sure. Best of luck with this.

well I dont believe in cc so I would cancel and not get another one.......I have never had a cc but have got things on credit in the past but not anymore if we cant pay for it then we dont buy it...

We had it happen with a card that we had not activated. The credit card company caught it and canceled the card. We did not cancel our other cards. We have had a credit block added to our credit reports after information was compromised . It is just easier not to have to worry about someone trying to open credit without our knowing about it.

let chase handle the credit card reissuing...dont cancel your other cards at all..l

i used my card online two years ago, and someone stole the number...and used it in the UK.

be careful when using your cards at these fast food restaurants, in our fair city, we have had MANY a report of the cashier's keeping the receipts and then charging their phone bills, clothes, or stuff on line with the numbers....i dont know if taco bell ever fixed their issue, but their receipts actually printed with the card number....i refuse to use anything but cash at fast food restaurants because of this.

all scammers need are your numbers,,, luckily credit card companies are use to this and will take care of the charges..
