I do not organize mine by expiration date but I do try to go through them about once a month to pull out any expired ones. If I find any that are soon to expire I then make the decision as to whether or not I might need to use them.

I find that I pass by a lot of the coupons for paper goods, health and beauty, OTC meds and cleaning supplies. For one thing I am picky about what I use for some things. For another, I can often get a store brand or some other brand for a lot less than the brand with the coupon. I only keep those that I think I might use.

There are all sorts of systems for organizing, you'll have to find what works best for you. I keep my coupons divided into envelopes and store them in a clear plastic shoebox with a snap-on lid that I take to the store. Others prefer binders.
At the beginning of each month, I go through my stash and pull the coupons that will expire by the middle of the month. That way I make sure I don't miss some really valuable one that I'd be sick about not using. I put those in a small coupon organizer which tucks in my purse.
Around the middle of the month, I get rid of the expired coupons and go through my shoebox once again, pulling the coupons that will expire at the end of the month and put them in the small organizer.
It takes extra time to do it that way, but if you do it when you were planning to watch television anyway, the time passes faster. Meanwhile, I don't get a nasty surprise about a coupon I meant to use and forgot about.

This is great! But doesn't it take forever to input the data?
