Default Re: How do you organize your coupons?

Not sure its the best way but this is how I have mine done. I have a coupon holder I bought from Wal MArt...I labeled my slots:
boxed foods, cereal, frozen, fridge, cleaning, paper goods, health and beauty, soups, juice.
In the cleaning slot, I broke it down by types and then paper cliped them together and labeled them. I also did that for the H &B section, cereal section.
Right now it works for me.

Well, I have graduated from one white envelope to two white envelopes. food and non-food. I have them separated out like shampoo, detergents, dental etc. and then have each group together with a paper clip.

It is hard to locate what I need because you have to pull the group out of the envelope and sometimes have to pull the paperclip off just to see what you have. This is not working. I think I am ready to try a box. Hmmm..my Whitman's sampler box from Valentines looks like an interesting size.....

I'm loving my new binder method, w/the baseball card pockets. I looked for the Case-It kind, but no luck. So, I bought a Mead Pro. It has a spot for my pens, scissors, post -it's, and has a little zipper pouch, and, and a few built-in accordion file, or dividers. (not sure what you call those things. I arranged mine, in the order of my favorite grocery store aisles. Since most grocery stores are set up very similar; I usually know where in my binder to look. I took post-it notes, and folded them over the sides of the tops of the pages, and wrote my categories, across the top (which is actually the side, when you turn the page) so that I can have my binder open only 1/4 of the way, and I can actually see where the division is, which I find, makes it easier for hubby to endure the shopping trip, w/ his coupon-searching wife. Trying to decide about attaching a purse-like carrying strap, but afraid it might be too heavy. Next, I will probably add photo pockets, for the oddball-sized cpns, so I don't have to fold them so narrow.

i'm a newbie to couponing, so i just have a plastic shoebox that fits perfect in the shopping cart. i have the dividers that are used for index cards. right now it works great, but as time goes on, i'm sure i'll outgrow my shoebox. when that time comes, i now have plenty of ideas! thanks.

Okay, the box my last cell phone came in is the perfect size. The coupons fit nicely long ways in it. I tried categories, but that didn't work, so now I am trying alphabet filing.

I also have made a separate section for each of my main stores and one for frees and one for catalinas. I even used my scrapbook sticker letters so my dividers would be cute. (goodness knows I don't have time to scrapbook right now...to many coupons, so little time.)

EGADS!! I'm taking my little accordian file and my shoebox and going home!

I am truly an apprentice among masters

DH's shirt pocket is where coupons go that I'm actually using (i.e. have the item in my shopping cart)

so sad!!!

I did the stack and staple thing, because I get multiple inserts (most times)
the question is this:
If I just file my inserts, with the date How do I remember what is in there?

what/how do you do it when filing?

P.s. there is just my DH and myself, so I don't stock pile like most of the couponers with larger families..
Have you tried the virtual coupon organizer. You'll need to be registered now to use the site.

and of course if you still cant find your coupon don't forget HCW's coupon database!

I have a new dual ring Case-It binder that I got on Ebay for my coupons. The ring keeps popping open when it's zipped up!!!! Then I open the zipper and my nice organized coupons fall out. Any ideas, or do I need to find (again!) another binder? It took me so long to find this one. I love the shoulder strap; I don't know where I could find another one. Help a newbie!!! :-)

Val - this started happening to me when I put too many pages into my binder (also a Case-It brand) -- I basically had to upgrade to two binders - now I need three (LOL - I have too many I guess!)

Is your binder really full? That could be the problem!
