Couponing Language Question

Ok, so I just started couponing and am getting ready for my first trip out to the grocery and was wondering...

Some of my coupons say "Save 40 c on any four"... does this mean that out of four items I only get the 40 cents off on one? Or does this mean that I get 40 cents off all four?

It means you have to buy 4 of the items to use the coupon and you will get a total of 40 cents off. Is that what you meant?

If you're lucky and your stores doubles (check your store policy), then it could be $0.80 off of 4. Good luck!
