Couponing Basics - HotCouponWorld
New to this site and somewhat new to couponing. I've been looking around the forums and various links and stuff and I have some questions that I haven't found answers to but I will post a bit of history about me.
Last year I had to quit my job because of health reasons. Now I am on Disability but it's barely enough. I also have three cats, two of whom have various health issues. We are at the vet almost every month which has been taking a toll. The vet also wants to runs hundreds of dollars worth of tests and procedures and I get frustrated that I can't help them enough. They are doing alright for the time being. I am also saving for college, an apartment, a move halfway across the country, and a Service Dog. I'm hoping that saving what little money I get will help.
Now for some questions:
1. I have been advised to avoid gluten. Do gluten free foods or hygiene products ever go on sale or have coupons?
2. Do organic products ever go on sale or have coupons?
3. I saw that it is advised to buy 10 to 20 of an item at a time. I don't understand that. If I only need two why should I buy 18 more that I probably won't use? What is the point of buying way more than you need just because you have a coupon? Not trying to upset anybody, just trying to figure out the logic.

Hi there and welcome! To answer some of your questions:
1. Yes! Many, many gluten free items will go on sale and have coupons- and there are almost always hygeine coupons for just about anything you may use. Sometimes you can find these coupons in newspaper inserts- however, the best luck I've had with finding gluten free coupons is in stores which sell gluten free items. Look for tearpads or booklets in natural foods/organic/"farmer's market" type stores. If it is a manufacturer's coupon, you may be able to use it in another store with a better price.
2. Same recommendation as the gluten free items.
3. As far as buying multiple quantities- one thing you can do is determine how much you use in a set period (my personal goal is to stock at least 3-6 months of different items). So for me, buying maybe 4-5 of a certain item might last me for 6 months+ (toothpaste, sugar, frozen foods)- whereas buying 10 of another item might only last me 3 months (TV dinners, trial size items, canned vegetables). It really depends on your personal needs.
I definitely recommend the Trader in Training program. That can be a good way to get some of the coupons you may need.
Again, Welcome to HCW!
Hi and Welcome! I'm so sorry you've been having problems lately. And I totally understand your love for cats. Hubby is allergic but I had one I loved dearly before I married him. They truly are a member of the family. :)
Another good source (other than the grocery store) for gluten free and organic is Amazon. Most people don't know they sell groceries but they do. They sell in bulk (a case of 6, 12, or whatever) but you can save quite a bit doing that. My favorite part...they are delivered to your doorstep!
Good luck as you learn to coupon and pinch a penny while sticking to a special diet. It really can be done. It just takes a little extra effort unfortunately.

Thank you everybody:) I stayed up all night looking at all the forums and I have found several that I already like.
One of the reasons I joined the forum was because I quite often get coupons and I don't need and would love to be able to send them to other members and vice versa.
Welcome! You can join our trading group & learn how to trade those coupons or give them away in our ROAK (random acts of kindness) forum. Just go here & read & agree to the terms & rules.![]()
