confused about coupons and food stamps?

So... I'm really confused. I JUST started clipping coupons, and I use food stamps (I'm on disability and on a tight budget). If I used coupons in a transaction and saved a lot that way, can I still use the food stamps to cover the remaining cost, as long as what I am buying is food?? (Yes, I only use them on food, besides, you can't use them on non-food products in NC)

I've always used coupons on food when I was on food stamps. Granted that was a few years ago, but I did it then.

I would assume you still can but just to be sure, why don't you call your caseworker & ask?

Yes, but you wil have to pay I think the taxes on the coupon.

You can use coupons and pay the rest with your EBT card. I haven't had to pay taxes on the coupons.

Yes you can I seen on the news and you tube as clips on this. They encourage you too. Some stores you will have to pay tax on the coupon items. Depends on your stores you can call and ask them before you go.

Whether you pay taxes on the coupons you use will depend upon your state laws. Some states require sales tax on pre-coupon price, while others only require it on post-coupon price.

For the record, North Carolina doesn't charge tax on food items when you use the food stamps card to pay.

Yes...you may want to separate your FS purchase from your non food purchase when using FS. What sometimes happens..is the Food coupon ends up being assigned to your non food purchase...and you end up having more of your FS being used then expected. It's up to you..but when i was on FS..I always separated them, when using coupons.
