    Default Couponing and Paper Products

Hello all!! So I am new to couponing (started about a month ago) and I am taking my time to get the swing of things. One thing that I would like some advise on is how to save on toilet paper, paper towels, etc. I have come to terms that being a couponer you cannot be brand loyal and I am fine with that but I have been keeping my eyes out for deals in regards to paper products and have not come across any. Is this just one of those things that I have to be patient on or are paper products something that is hard to get a good deal on? Any input would be awesome and greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

What stores do you have in your area.

and yes TP and PT can be a PITA to purchase!

I'm to the point we are going with scotts cause everything else is just too expensive.

I was doing bounty basic at walmart but they stopped selling the single packages...you can use $1.00/2 any bounty on the basic and just purchase 2 basic..if your walmart still has it.

I'm getting the scotts at FD before coupon 20 pack for about $13.50 with a $2.00 coupon ...so total will be about $11.50 for a 20 pack and the scotts last over a day a roll at my house. Anything else we blow through a roll in less then a day.

I hear ya....so hard to find good deals on that stuff! The only thing I've found to do so far is to use drugstore rewards (+UPs at Rite Aid, Register Rewards at Walgreens or Extra Care Bucks at CVS) coupled with coupons to help pay for these things.

It is a hard category to get fantastic deals on. But once you get in the swing of finding a good deal on either TP or PT's, you'll know your benchmark and be able to watch the pricing easier.

I refuse to pay more than 50 cents a roll for paper towels and have handily been able to do that, with various deals on various products. And I didn't let up buying until I was well ahead, that way it 'bought' me time to find more deals to back fill the use.

As to TP, since we're on a septic system, tend to use Scotts and have no problem with it although others consider it one step above using newspaper But Scotts has stepped up too Some of the newer types are softer and still septic system 'happy'

But again, my 'buy' price on TP is less than 25 cents a roll and I've been able to stay ahead on that one too. I do buy other brands of TP if the price is right and give that to my daughter.

If you have ECB's (CVS) or RR's (Walgreen's) or UP's Rewards (RiteAid) to burn, paper products are always a great way to use them up. Little to no OOP and you won't lose your $$ if there is nothing else worthwhile before they expire. Just a thought.

First of all: Congratulations on starting couponing!!! Don't get discouraged if you don't see mucho buckaroos coming off at first - it took me a while to get the hang of it. The more you learn about couponing, the more you can save! Keep on keeping on!

My suggestion would be to keep an eye on Walgreens. They often have great sales on Cottonelle and then offer an in store coupon which you can pair with a manufacturer's coupon for double the savings. {Hint: Sometimes, the in store coupon is as much as $1 off!} If you don't already subscribe to ALL YOU Magazine, it's well worth the subscription! They have great coupons every month. You can also check out their website AllYou.com - Save money with coupons, free samples, and shopping tips. to print coupons from home. This month, they featured a $1.50 coupon on Cottenelle! Also, try Walmart. They have a new TP. No brand name - it's in a clear package with blue and pink on it. The package says "NEW! Bathroom Tissue 12 double rolls - soft and strong". It's not thin and it lasts. The rolls are wound tight and the paper doesn't feel like sandpaper! It's $4.98 @ our Walmart.

    Hope this helps!

Depends on your stores. I get my PT's at Kroger or Fred's (1 pack Brawny at Kroger, and 1 pack Bounty Basic at Fred's). I use PT's in insane amounts, though, and like good PT's, so it's something I usually just end up "splurging" on. I have trouble with good TP deals, too.

With 3 females and only 1 male in this house, we go through insane amounts of TP. My husband is constantly whining about how much TP we go through. I desperately need deals on TP.

Funny side note, my coworker and I were discussing this one day and she said they ran out one time and when she went to put away the TP she had just bought she noticed her box of facial cleansing wipes were right there next to the toilet. Her husband was using them to wipe his rear!! Talk about an expensive BM!

That is funny. It reminds me of a time when I got a great deal on kleenex...it was at Walgreens and it was back to school time. I could not find a deal on tp to save my life and we ran out so we started using the kleenez till I could find a good deal on tp

Write to the companies. Tell them you like their products. I did this to Western Family and Hytop. Both make a variety of things. Both sent me a $3.00 gift certificate for anything they make. I got paper towels.

But for the most part I just get my paper products at Costco. I try to wait until they have a coupon for them. I know some people think I am not saving money by buying this stuff at Costco, but I think I am. I did the math. The only coupons I was getting for toilet paper otherwise was for 50 cents off an expensive brand. And even if I use a doubler, I am still paying a lot of money for 4 rolls.

For paper towels and napkins, I also look for seasonal prints that often go on sale for half price or less after the holiday. Also check places like Big Lots. I have sometimes gotten things cheaply there.

I am happy now that we have two new toilets. Prior, only our one toilet could handle two ply paper. The other one would clog if we didn't use one ply. So that meant pretty much using Scott, or some crappy off brand that in the end wound up costing me more because there was so little on the roll. Now I can flush any kind of paper.

I just figure one of those huge Costco packages will last me the better part of the year. So that is one less thing I have to worry about.
