I think the benefits of a newspaper subscription are much more than merely getting inserts though trades and/or clipping services.
- You receive ads for most of the stores in your area so you can compare prices or price match
- You will sometimes find an in-ad coupon within the pages of the newspaper
- Some smaller stores, (e.g., the GreatValu chain) frequently have manufacturer coupons that expire at the end of the week in their circulars. Little time to trade for these because of the short expiration date.
- You see notices of farmers markets, flea markets, charity/benefit sales, and all sorts of other outlets for purchasing inexpensive products.
- If you don't feel like going out one Sunday, you'll have at least one set of that week's coupons delivered to your door.
- Sometimes you don't want a whole lot of one product, or you have a sudden need for some product. There might not be much time to wait for a trade, and sometimes it's difficult or not worth the effort to trade for one specific coupon. There are coupons in my collection that I would probably never trade for, but I'll use just that one from my Sunday paper.
You can always buy more copies of a Sunday paper if the coupons are really good one week, and you can always trade/buy more of a specific coupon.
Please PM me for trades; the database messes with my mind.

Thanks for all the great advice!
I have another quick question. If I several coupons for an item that make the item free, and the coupon says "one coupon per purchase," does that mean one coupon per item or one coupon per transaction?
