how do you find the "Newspaper Coupon"

Hi I'm new and overwhelmed, confused still about this whole couponing. I spent so much time last week in the store so organized with my binder, to find out
many items were still cheapers at the "Ralphs or Vons" brand on sale then the product with coupon..
and my 2nd question, is there was a Prilosec for "Free" last week or the week before, only I did it wrong at rite aid, because it was store coupon, mfr coupon
and Newpaper coupon.. So when it says Newspaper coupon, where exactly are these in the Newspaper..?

I would assume a newspaper coupon is what we call a insert coupon.
