How do save X.XX off X items work?

Hey guys new here looking to dabble into the world of couponing to save some cash.

Anywho here's the question:

If a coupon states something along the lines of, Save $0.50 off 2 Granola bars - does this mean you can use two coupons and save $1 total or is it only possible to save the $0.50 off the item?

If the coupon says save .50 on two Granola bars that mean to use that one coupon you must buy 2 Granola bars...You can not use two coupons on the save two items. If you have two of that coupon to use both of them you must buy 4 Granola bars..

That being said tho
If you have a MANUFACTUER coupon that says save .50 on two Granola bars THEN you have a STORE coupon(for that same item) such at walgreens then you can take both the manfacture coupon and the the walgreens store coupon to walgreens and use both the manfacturer coupon and the walgreens coupon on the same two Granola bars.
