Default Okay so let me get this straight (using multiple coupons)

Okay so I get the gist of couponing to save money .... like lining up a manuf. coupon with a store deal/coupon to save extra, but are you also using the same coupons for the one item to get it free? Like pizza sauce $2.00----- like 2 of the same coupons for .50 off plus a store doubling the coupons making it free? I thought you can't use the same coupons for one the item your buying? I'm new to all this and I'm trying to figure out how on the Extreme couponing show you can buy $2,800 worth of stuff for $50!! Please explain???!!!

First of all, erase the nonsense you have stuck in your head from *the show that shall not be named* - it's not based on day to day reality of coupon shopping

Now, since I don't know what store coupon you're referring to or what store, it's hard to say. You will have to read up on the store's coupon policy (usually you can find that on their website online) and then follow their policy for guidance.

Each store you shop in will have their own policies and they do vary, so take some time to read/learn their coupon redemption policy and you'll soon be on your way to saving without confusion

You'd have to have a .50 coupon at a store that doubles and wait for the pizza sauce to be on sale for $1, or have a .50 off manufacturer coupon and a .50 off store coupon at a store that doubles both, or have a .50 off manufacturer coupon and a .50 off store coupon and wait for it to be on sale for $1, or have a store that gives overage and have a $2.00 off coupon and wait for it to be on sale for $1. And you'd have to have a coupon for pretty much everything you buy, and/or have the overage cover everything you don't have a coupon for.

What the people on Extreme Couponing do is they spend a crazy amount of hours hunting for one of these such situations and once they find them, do crazy things to get a buttload of the coupons.

Okay so wait, I'm wondering if you can use the same manu. coupon on the same item---- like .50 off shampoo. Say you have 6 of the same manu. coupons, well you can't use all of those coupons on that one shampoo can you? I thought I read here that is fraudualent? Also what if you have 6 man. coupons and 6 shampoos, can you use them all together to get .50 off all 6 shampoos?

Also Extreme coupons is rare? The show isn't acurate? I thought perhaps once in a while that might be the case?!

You can only use one MQ per item. Yes, if you buy one item for each coupon you can use all of the coupons. But, if your store limits "like" coupons or if the manufacturer (P&G does limit 4 per transaction of like coupons), you won't be able to do that.

A lot of what is shown on *the show that shall not be named* is not within store policy (the stores seem to wave their policies for the show in many cases) and some of the couponers were using coupons for one size package that was not what the coupon stipulated and that is out and out fraudulent use.

If you google the name of that show and start reading some of the serious sites about some of the things they witnessed on those shows, you'll understand.

You can't use 6 coupons on 1 bottle. You are allowed to use 1 coupon per item you are purchasing, within the guidelines of the coupon - some say limit 1 per transaction or 4 per shopping trip, so be sure to read the fine print on each coupon. Some stores only allow 4 "like" coupons, so using 6 of the same shampoo coupons at Rite Aid would be a no-go.

That show is very un-realistic b/c its not normal day to day shopping. All you are seeing is the "extreme" part. Think about it...where is the produce, meat, dairy items? Yeah, its nice to have 100 bags of croutons, but where's the salad fixings to go with it? Some of the couponers have the luxury of double coupons, for instance, a .50 coupon is now worth $1. That's how a lot of them get free items.

aahhh I see---- so now a new question---

if I want to buy 10 boxes of cereal for 2.50 and I have $1 off coupon and a store that doubles it, can I use a coupon (if I can even get enough of them) could I use 10 coupons for each of the coupons I'm using?

I think you meant if you wanted to buy 10 boxes of cereal and had 10 coupons (coupon stipulated $1 off one box), then as long as the store coupon policy allows you to use 10 "like" coupons, yes.

But a lot of stores limit how many "like" coupons you can use in one trip so that one customer doesn't come in with enough coupons to wipe the shelf clear of all they have in stock of the item. So make sure you check the store policy first.

Couponing takes time and effort to do it well, but once you get the store policies down pat, then you can really begin to save by knowing their best sales, match them up with coupons you can use and pick off the best deals each week

In about two - four months, you'll be clocking in a regular savings each trip that will make you wish you had always used coupons

Take it slow and easy, one store at a time and you'll do great!
