recalls... and more
So on the TLC show that is somewhat unrealistic I saw some people go in and take the recalls off the shelves for free! Does anyone do this? How does the store get paid, I would have thought the store would have had to send the product back to the manufacture.
I was inspired by the TLC show, however I thought some people hoarders. I also felt that most of the time they had lots of savings on multiple stockpile items, but little savings with 3 meal a day foods.
How much can someone realistically expect to save on a three meal a day food bill?
I am hoping to save between 30-60% on each shopping venture, I would be very happy at 50% off is that a realistic expectation for meal planning... not stockpile stuff?
I am guessing I will add things to a stock pile as those deals come up, but that will take some time to do and I would most likely only add an item maybe 2 a week.
How realistic are my expectations?
Blessings,
Kristina

Re: recalls... and more
Thanks for your answer and taking the time to reply. Just knowing other people are doing this is encouraging to know that I indeed can do it as well, with some realistic expectation and goals in mind.
In regards to the recall question here is a rephrased more detailed version :)
It was demonstrated that when a product was recalled that was currently on the shelves in stores, that a person could show the recal information to the store manager, and sometimes the store manager would allow the customer to clear all of the recalled items from the shelves and take them home with them.
The item that was recalled was sometimes because they company could not guarantee there were no peanut by products, but on the label they list that there are none. Obviously in this situation the product is fine, but a manufacture cannot sell something that is not absolutely true.
So has any extreme couponer tried this or have heard of others doing it?
Blessings,
Kristina
