Question About "Do Not Double"

When "do not double" is printed on the face of the coupon does this mean it won't automatically double at stores that still D/T? Wouldn't it be up to the store to decide to double or not since it's coming out of their pocket?

Just curious to know if these coupons really do not double because of their code.

They are 2 kinds. One that starts with a 9, one wit a 5. In general the ones with a 9 do not automatically double. The ones with a 5 do...some stores then go back and undouble them...some do not.

Coupons that start with a 1 do not double either.
