Default Do you save the ads

Does anyone actually save the ads for future reference? I was thinking this might be an easy way to help determine if something is actually at a rock bottom price or not.

If I get a rain check for an item, I save the weekly ad to show with the out-of-stock item that the rain check was written for as a backup record.

When you start out and are not familiar with the sale cycles, saving the ads is a good way to learn the "rope" of sale cycles. Try saving for about a month or so, your drugstore, grocery, office supplies, home center/hardware, dollar stores, and other store ads for references.

Especially with grocery ads, you will see a pattern when loss leaders are on sale and other monthly specials (i.e. dairy month is now in effect for June). A lot of good deals now for dairy products and notice the coupon inserts for references too.

I don't. I keep them until I get the Sunday coupons and then I look to see if anything is on sale. After that they get tossed.

You could do that to help understand your store(s) sales cycles and best prices. Or, you could create a spreadsheet and log items that seem to be a good sale (by store name/price/month) and then each week add to it or 'update' it with the new lower price/month. That way you'll have a rolling comparison file and a quick check by item will let you know if the price you're seeing beats anything in the past

I haven't saved the ads, but that's a great idea! Especially if you have multiple stores in your area, and aren't used to paying attention to the sales.
