Dumpster Diving

This may be a weird question, but is dumpster diving even legal? I looked online, and there are quite a few newspaper recycling dumpsters near my house, but I'm concerned that since they're at schools, the police will be called. Also, if I were to call my city's recycling center, would they normally allow someone to find coupons there?

it is best to get approval from the person that owns the land the dumpster sits on. ask at the school (principal or the superintendant), church (pastor, deacon etc). technically it can be considered trespassing. but if you get the okay (great if you can get it in writing) then go for it.

you never know about the city's recycling center. the worst thing you could do is NOT ask. you will never know the answer if you dont.

And don't forget all your other possibilities. At one job I had, I had a tremendous amount of success with just putting a box in our break room with a sign on it-"If you don't want your Sunday coupons, please leave them here." I got lots that way. I also get from neighbors, family and the local newsstand.

But don't forget schools, colleges, libraries, barber shops...lots of people don't use Sunday coupons.

Thanks so much! Right now I get my coupons from my parents, but the idea of a box in the breakroom at work is perfect, I'm going to have my husband do that for me!
