Expired coupons

Hi, I'm Indi. I'm not new to coupons, but I am new to this board. I must say that I am so glad for coupons. They have been able to save me lots and lots of money these past couple of years. I have been reading in the forums that some people can use expired coupons. I was wondering if this is A) Legal and B) If there would be any interest in my old stash of inserts.

I have at least 2 of each insert that date back to 8-01-10. I do a lot of cherry picking since we are on a tight budget. So there is a lot in these inserts that are not used. If I didn't "need" it that month it didn't get bought. So there is a nice mix of coupons I would hate to throw away if someone could benefit from their use legally.

I have been using the insert method for the past year and i am in the process of switching to the binder method. As I was starting to fill my trash can with inserts, I remembered that I had read some posts about expired coupons. Thought I would turn to y'all about some advise on how to dispose of them. Would it be best to do an auction? Maybe an out right trade? What is there to do with all these, besides just fill up our already to full landfill?

I think military families can use these but I am not sure where to send them. Hopefully someone else will post.

Hi Indi - many military families can use those q's a few months expired, and you could donate your coupons that are within the time limit to them. We also have an expired coupons trading forum that you may find useful after you graduate from traders in training. I'm sure you can find a good home for them. We have a great list of HCW members who are stationed overseas, where they can use coupons up to 6 months past their expiration date. If you follow the link in my signature below, you'll find the list and you can pick a name on there and send them a PM to ask for their mailing information. It costs the same amount of postage to mail overseas as it would to mail within the US so in my opinion, it's a small price to pay to thank a military family for all they sacrifice for us.

There are a few stores around the US that do accept expired coupons, but as a general rule, most stores do NOT accept them.

Thank you everyone for ur ideas. I think sending them to troops is a great idea. Now do I really have to clip all of them or does anyone know of someone who will do the clipping of the coupons. I spent 9 hours ust going through my coupons I'm not sure if I can spend that kinda time like I said its a big pile.

You don't have to clip them. Just put them in the box clipped or not and they will be glad to cut them when they get them.
