Default How to use multiple coupons

Good afternoon all, I'm a new couponer and have a simple question. Can I use two separate coupons for one item? For instance, I have a coupon for cereal, $.50 off one box, and another coupon for the same cereal, $1.00 off one box. Can I combine them since they are separate coupons?

Another variation: I have a BOGO coupon for candy, and a $1.00 off coupon for each bag of candy also. Can I use all three?

Last question: When Kroger says they double 'Up to $1.00' does that mean a $1.00 coupon is worth $2.00? Would a $.75 coupon be worth $1.50? Or do they mean the value increases to a maximum of $1.00?

BTW -- In my first week of couponing, I spent approx. $140.00 out of my pocket, and saved over $150.00!! My wife was speechless :)

    Thank you to all!

Well, I can't speak for all stores but the Shoprite that I go to, you can only use either the 50 cents off or the $1 off. BUT, if it's the BOGO then you can use the BOGO coupon and the $1 off for one of the items, not the other because it's already free. Again, I can't speak for Kroger, but at Shoprite they say "up to and including 99 cents will double" so my 75 cent coupon is really worth $1.50. With the exception of what happened to me on Sunday. Shampoo was on sale for 66 cents, I had a 55 cents off coupon, it took off the 55 cents and instead of doubling it only added 11 cents to make the item free. It doesn't give you overage if the amount of doubling comes to more than the price of the item.

    ONE item PER coupon.

Some stores do allow you to stack a store Q with a Mfg Q.

As far as BOGO Q's you usually can use one coupon for the item you are actually purcahsing but not the FREE item. I say usually as sometimes it is YMMV and the store might only accept the BOGO.

Every store has different ideas on what double coupons means. I suggest you speak with your customer service to check and see what your store considers it to be.

For instance, I have a coupon for cereal, $.50 off one box, and another coupon for the same cereal, $1.00 off one box. Can I combine them since they are separate coupons? You can only use one manufacturer’s coupon per item purchased, so you would need to choose either the $.50 or the $1.00.

Another variation: I have a BOGO coupon for candy, and a $1.00 off coupon for each bag of candy also. Can I use all three? If you have a BOGO coupon and your store or the coupon doesn’t prohibit it, you can use ONE $1.00/1 coupon with the BOGO coupon. You can only discount an item once w/ a manufacturer’s coupon and in the case of a BOGO, you are purchasing one and discounting the other to free, therefore you can use the $1.00 on the one you are purchasing. You cannot use another $1.00 coupon for the one you are getting free with the BOGO coupon.

Last question: When Kroger says they double 'Up to $1.00' does that mean a $1.00 coupon is worth $2.00? Would a $.75 coupon be worth $1.50? Or do they mean the value increases to a maximum of $1.00? I’d need a Kroger shopper to help you here

BTW -- In my first week of couponing, I spent approx. $140.00 out of my pocket, and saved over $150.00!! My wife was speechless :) Great job on the savings!

    Thank you to all!

jen276here's reply above in red was spot on as far as using multiple coupons.

Adam, I see that you are in Michigan, you may want to post your question about Kroger doubles up to $1.00 in in our [B]Kroger Great Lakes forum FAQ where the moderator of that forum, lookalikeadog, or one of the members in your area can better help assist you with that particular store question.

It can vary store to store, but usually that means that any coupon valued under a dollar is doubled. For example:

50¢ coupon is doubled to $1.00
75¢ coupon is doubled to $1.50
$1.00 coupon is doubled to $2.00

However any coupon over a $1.00 is not doubled. So a $1.25 coupon is just a $1.25 coupon

I had always wondered about the BOGO version. I currently have some BOGO free splenda coupons but I also have some $1 off 1 Splenda coupons so I will try to use them both when I go to the store. Does it matter what order they scan them in? Our overseas commissary is quite picky about coupons at times so I am not even sure if it will work.

Each store will differ, but I like to use the $ off first then the BOGO. I always give BOGO and Free coupons last and put those items last on the register belt incase the cashier has to look up the price for the item to fill it in on the coupon. Most of the time I fill in the price on these types of coupons to help the cashier out.
